To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
The power button (ON/OFF) located on the right side of the machine get stuck in. It's a knowed issue, unfortunately DeLonghi is aware of this, after two years of complains from many. They keep selling and shipping this machine so it's just disappointing. It's a lottery.
Think twice before ordering this product.
I had the DeLonghi Espresso machine EC 155 for 5 years now. I was aware of the Power button issue on the Dedica, but i decided to trust the postive reviews and give it a chance.
This is my second DeLonghi EC680 Dedica, both were purchased on Amazon. The first I bought at a discount from Amazon Warehouse. I returned it after receiving it without all of the components and after noting that the on/off Button seemed to be deteriorating within the first week's use (after about the 10th double-shot I pulled). Today, I finally opened the new one I purchased after returning the used one. Upon following the "Setting up the Appliance", wherein I turned on the Steam/Hot Water spout, the machine immediately started making a loud, thump, thump, thump, thump... turned it off, made sure I had the water tank securely seated (it was), and started again, thump, thump, thump, thump... after about 7-10 seconds of this, water starts spraying out. But under what seems like unwarranted pump strain, as I listened to the machine, I felt that even the used machine bought at a discount sounded less defective than this. Since I already know this machine is capable of making an incredible Colada and Ristretto, I will return to Amazon to see if I can finally find one that has everything and functions properly.
I had the bigger Delonghi EC860M model for 4-5 years and absolutely loved it. It finally broke down after heavy use and, frankly, negligent cleaning and maintenance on my part, and I was looking to replace it with a similar Delonghi espresso machine. Shipping takes longer in the middle of CV19 and I needed something reasonably fast, so I ordered the smaller Delonghi EC680M, which was in stock and arrived in only 5 days with Prime. On the surface, they are very similar products - same pump, similar overall look and features. I don't really need a more compact coffee machine in a suburban home but why not, I thought.
Well, it turned out there are some big differences. The smaller Delonghi EC680M model buzzes loudly, especially in the first 15 seconds of brewing, and the cup vibrates and moves with it on the narrow drip tray. It's a loud and irritating rattle that is simply unacceptable in a $325 product by a fantastic brand. I also did not like the water container in the back, which makes it very inconvenient to pull from underneath the kitchen cabinet every time it needs to be refilled. And last, the scoop has a much lighter hollow handle compared to the one that comes with the bigger Delonghi EC680M model, which makes it feel cheap and tougher to control.
On the plus side, there is no discernible difference in espresso taste and ability to extract crema out of it with the same beans and grinder. It also heats up very fast.
In summary, the only advantage of the Delonghi EC680M model is its compact size, which is probably a good option in a small NYC apartment. The Delonghi EC860M is a much better choice for an additional $125 in MSRP.
I paid 200.91 for the machine and a scant few necessary items, they cane with machine. They should have added the expresso cups, thermometer, and pitcher. Because I had to order those I Paid 235.00. I found a wide cup to put under the expresso. They don’t tell you what size pitcher to use. By the way it’s a 12 oz you need. All of these extra items should be included. The product is too expensive for a piece of plastic dipped in silver. Instructions aren’t very good. They could have left out a lot of needless stuff. So much you have to do just to get a cup of expresso. Not worth it. If I would have known this item was crap I would have bought from a local store. Probably better pricing for a much better item. I feel ripped off and lied to. Don’t buy this, go to a local store.
Update; in a month it starts not working well. Espresso was not coming out. I am replacing it but not sure if that is a good decision. I really hope it work out, I like the design And taste when it works well.
Update review after lots of research. The right amount of coffee was the key. Which is not mentioned in the instruction. It was very important put only 0.6oz for single cup. That changed taste and its puck. Now not muddy. Guess the Delonghi should put more information for beginners. Even my friends who usually make espresso w a different machine didn’t know that. So I am not returning now. Phew.
I just opened package, love the design..and taste was not too bad. but I was hesitated so long on it because all about the reviews that saying they found problems in a few months and the manufacture is not taking care of it at all. And Amozon only accept return in a month. This Machine is a bit weird some parts. First, machine is loud and vibrating so badly when I try to steam the milk. I thought it went wrong. But later it got a little bit better, but still loud and vibrating. But really now considering to return this because after use, the coffee was muddy. It should be dried, all the coffee should be squeezed out. Now worried if it will break in a short time. I do not want to waste my $250 for nothing.
I bought this for my daughter to get her into espresso and cappuccino making since she really likes when I make it at home on my Breville Barista express. I thought the Dedica would be perfect because it was small and had good reviews. First it was too finicky. With the pressurized filter, it should have been easy to make a good espresso. It was not and I am very experienced and have had several different machines. The milk foamer was terrible. It could not be regulated and would not make micro bubbles. The decalsifying process was not easy to understand. I've had machines that cost a lot less and made far better espresso and foamed milk. I returned the unit to amazon.
I loved this machine. It is compact, easy to use and makes a great expresso until it get broke. All of a sudden, it starts making buffing sound and no water/pressure is coming. Amazon is not able to fix it because it passed the return period and good luck to get your call to be answered by De'Longhi. My $35 coffee machine works longer than this. If you are willing to pay for good espresso machine but planning to use it for short time, this is a good product but if you are planning to use it for reasonable period, I don’t recommend this product. Overall, it is not terrible but If get the chance I would prefer even to add some more money and buy a better machine.
Have yet to use it, but it seems promising if I had the right parts? Only problem is they shipped it without the correct filter holder. This device needs a three prong holder and it doesn’t properly fit into the machine (see pictures). Of note, the box It came in looked a bit used (Maybe the same item was returned for this same issue?) the actual item looked clean/good though.
