To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
Would not display colors properly with my HD TV hooked up with my Bell Expressvu satellite receiver. Ghosting and extreme yellows. No trouble with signal strength, but the source was only 10' from the TV.
I bought these because I was trying to broadcast two different devices and read under a separate review I couldn't do such with my existing unit (TECH-DIGITAL) because the signals would conflict with each other. The good news is that they obviously use different signals because they both work at the same time together, however, this unit wasn't able to transmit as far as the TECH-DIGITAL, and had a failure rate about 10 times more than my TECH-DIGITAL. Specifically, it skips probably about once every few minutes for a brief second, which TECH-DIGITAL might skip about once every 5 minutes, but it also requires to be reset about once every 3 or 4 days, while my TECH-DIGITAL only needs to be reset about once every 2 months. It serves it's purpose since I can't broadcast two of the same brand, but I would have paid the extra $20 for the TECH-DIGITAL if I could have used both at the same time. Of note, the Actiontec is much smaller and cosmetically less intrusive than the TECH-DIGITAL, and I have a house that is very problematic with signals, so it's possible that without the signal issues the Actiontec would be a much better item for most households at half the size, and without the bulky antennas. This unit also DOES NOT REQUIRE A SPLITTER for the transmitter. I'm updating this review and dropping a star because the reset rate is now closer to every time I use it. I'm actually going to replace it with another brand today because it's become so annoying. I'm leaving two stars because if you are willing to reset it every day, it technically does work.
I was excited about the fact that I could wirelessly transmit hd images/ sound to a remote tv with this device. However, after installing everything as intructed, I realized I could not get any audio on my mainTV. Called manufacturer's support line three times. Each time I was told to reboot my cablebox and then the two devices. But that didn't solve the problem at all. I even tried switching to hight quality hdmi cables. Still no audio on my main TV which is connected directly to the transmitter using the "to tv" port on the device. Although I was happy i could watch HD TV wirelessly on my remote TV, I dont want my main TV to be "silent". Also, the IR sensor on this thing is odd. I had to point my remote control toward a wall ( not directly at the sensor) in order for it to work. This is not what I expected. Finally returned it to Amazon.
As everyone else has said, this is a great product, when it’s actually working. One of my receivers are right outside the house while the other is probably a good 50 ft inside. The unit worked great the first time for about 35 minutes....and then it all went down hill. Randomly turns off. Needed constant resetting of both boxes. Took me about 45 minutes of resetting both boxes on/off to get the connection back. These are great when the connection works but the inconsistent connection makes them extremely frustrating.
I owned the original version of MyWirelessTV for six years before a power surge killed it, and had no problems with it. I wish I could have found the old version to replace it with. This "MyWirelessTV2" new version is placed on the same equipment/location as the old version and it never stays connected. Before using it I have to unplug then re-plug the transmitter, run to the TV that the receiver is hooked up to and wait while it is "trying to find" the transmitter. After a minute or so it connects and the system works. I have to do this every time I want to use it. Pretty worthless.
I replaced an earlier model that died after 4 years, I had to reset the old unit weekly and thought that the new version wouldn't have that issue. Well, this version needs to be reset every time after I turn on the tv, all I get is sound and a black screen otherwise. It's annoying to unplug both boxes, wait a minute, plug transmitter, wait a minute, plug receiver, wait again for discovery/connection on a daily basis. After a stressful day I just want it to work. On the plus side, when it does work the sound and video are fantastic. Compared to using the older set, it seemed like I had upgraded my tv. The two boxes are setup about 35 feet apart.
2 Stars. Not that it doesn't work - that's not the problem. It (i.e. the engineer that designed it) decided you're an idiot and don't need to do any advanced config. Like anything that uses the spectrum in and around my premises I need to control which 5GHZ channels my products use to avoid conflict, and this thing's 'auto-config' "chose" one of two 5ghz channels that's already very busy (161). There are several others (4 not including DFS) available and totally open. Right now it's interfering with a wireless bridge connecting the main office to the marina's dock LAN. No, I'm not going to reprogram the bridges - I expect to have control over devices on the premises and manage my own spectrum. I called ActionTec's elevation tech support in Colorado and complained but he said he cannot help me at his level. I'm probably going to return it but will wait a few days to maybe hear from an engineer. Default automated setup is fine and probably works well for 90% of the users, but we should all have the option to access advanced configuration of any device.
When it works it is great but...Direct TV boxes will not allow you to have 2 tvs, the host and remote TV, to function properly. Loss of picture or sound or both. I tried it 2 times, returned one and received another, thinking it was faulty equipment, Same result with both times. This needs to be made clear in their advertising to avoid the trouble and confusion. Save the $170.00 and buy a 25ft HDMI cable for $20.00.
Item Shipped 1st time was incorrect and late (paid for one day shipping), 2nd set came late as well, and then i hooked them up with in (15 feet of each other from a av receiver to projector) the lag and video cutting was bad .. I thought maybe my astro 80's was interfering with the wireless , Nope .. So i changed some setting on my wifi network (channels) and still a no go.. The crisp clean HDMI over wifi that i expected to have was not happening. I have a set of the 1st version of these that i hooked back up at work flawless in quality , but have other issue (when changing av inputs they have to resync all the time) sometimes I have to manually re sync.. I had read where those problem were taken care of, and in fact they were ..but the quality of the picture was so bad that i'll deal with the problem or get a 50 foot hdmi cable and paint it the same color of my wall.. (to hide) since i rent.. very disappointed on a product that gen 1, I was bragging about ..
I have had this for 6 months. Constant rebooting and problems. Also (these are 1 room apart) the volume lag between the 2 tv's is a good 2-3 seconds causing you to have to close the door between the 2 rooms or it will drive you crazy. Constant resetting the remote sensor and causes problems on the main TV on a regular basis. Wish I had never bought and very expensive but had it too long to return.
