I like my dark urban fantasy, but it is authors like this one, that have me turning to & enjoying the paranormal romantic fantasy genre as well. I'd say Gena Showalter is in the same league as Kresley Cole (Immortals After Dark Series). I don't really want to give any spoilers, just know that it is entertaining, funny, sensual & a damn good read.
This is Book five in the Alien Huntress series, and we follow sassy, violent, loyal, A.I.R trainee agent Ava Sans who is sent on a mission to bring back to headquarters Mckell an arrogant, supremely smug, powerful vampire who can manipulate time, who makes other vampires run from him & other A.I.R agents who have gone after him, half lose their minds & the digits of their fingers, he is deemed a threat, but also could possibly be the solution to a horrible alien virus that kills all who come in contact with it.
I loved the characters, interactions, humour, misunderstandings & how the tiny female that is Ava brings the best out of Mckell, he is pretty stupid in regard to how to treat people, & makes assumptions that get him into a whole heap of trouble & as you can imagine, Ava soon sets him straight. The story flows from one page to another, catching up with Dallas & Mia, being introduced to other subtle character threads. Can't wait to see what happens with Ava's Amazonian friend Noelle. A real treat, if you like this type of genre. Great romantic esacpism, at it's best.....the chemistry between the two main protagonists, makes this a memorable read. - Enjoy....
What can I say, when the first two reviewers have said it all? Just a brilliant book and the best so far; the funniest and fastest, lovely and sexy!! Very titillating all through and that question to McKell, 'do you need a map?', (maybe not quite verbatim) really tickled me.
I loved Kyrin,Devyn was a dream, but McKell was something else! I can't wait for the next book in this series. Reading them all one after the other leaves me now slightly bereft and I will have to switch genres for a time and while I don't think this is a bad thing it will be quite some time before I recover from this 'feel good' book.
One of my favourites in the Alien Huntress series, perhaps because I was a bit wary about the 'Alien' premise of the books. This novel returns to more familiar supernatural roots and puts Victor McKell, the vampire that we met in book 4, at centre stage. The books must be read in order, as this continues the Schon story arc. Ava is feisty and fun and makes a good match for McKell.
The story was quiet funny and rang true with me about friends that we love. The hunk.......oh my...... he was in my thoughts for many days after finishing the book. I will definitely be buying a book by Gena again.
