This double-tubed truck canopy seal tape is just what I needed to keep the constant, always raining Pacific Northwest weather out of my truck bed! That double tube works MUCH better than the flat seal tape that was originally on the canopy topper. On the plus side, it raised up my canopy ever so slightly so that now my tailgate does not "drag" on the bottom of the canopy when closing it, and the rear door latch seems to work better now. I guess I needed that extra 1/4" (after compression) to make things work right! By the way, one roll of this stuff fit the front and sides of my canopy for my 6.5" truck bed on my Toyota Tundra. I had about 15 inches left over, and I was generous on the corners with plenty of overlap. The down side of my installation is, I have plastic rail caps on the sides of my truck bed but nothing on the front rail of the bed, so it left a gap where I could see a little daylight between the canopy seal and the front of the truck bed. I fixed that with 1/2" pipe wrap insulation that I pulled onto the aluminum rail that sticks out on the front of my canopy. No worries, no leaks now! I would buy this stuff again.
This cap seal is WAY better than the cheap, foam seal available at my local auto parts store. It's high-quality material, and it installs easily. For best results, flip the cap upside down (on its top). I allowed a few minutes of "cure" time before reinstalling the cap. Even though I had to slide the cap into place, the seal stayed put. I am very satisfied.
This was to replace standard foam double stick tape for a truck cap on our 1980 Toyota pickup. It came with cleaning pads and rubber filler. After cleaning the tops of the rails and filling the holes we went about putting the seal on. The seal is very sticky so ensure you are ready when you start and done have to try and pull it off, that doesn't end well trust me. Once we hit the corners it took a little bit to find scissors that would cut it, then to cut it at the right angle was trouble. The instructions included have pictures but for us they were unhelpful. We did figure it out after a few try's and everything went off as planned. It works great and seals very well.
Product did well for sealing my under 200 pound camper shell. Adhesive is very sticky, sticks very good to the camper shell. Unfortunately, it appears that the adhesive does not stick as well to the rubber. When shell removed a section has separated from the shell. The adhesive is still stuck to the shell, the rubber came off from the adhesive. Only a small section though. I would use this product again as it appears to seal better than normal foam rubber.
Solved all my water intrusion issues with my camper shell. Created a good seal. I have a 6 foot truck bed and had plenty of seal left over. Installation was pretty straight forward. Remove old seal, clean the lip, adhere the new seal and re-install cap. The other hiccup I had is when I reinstalled the cap, I tend to stick it on the end of the bed and slide the cap on, but this put too much pressure on the seal and it started to come off on the cab side. I instead just got an extra pair of hands to lift on the other side to set the cap down instead of sliding it.
Bought this to replace the foam on my tonneau cover and works pretty well. On a hot day the rubber does stick a little when you fold the cover back, just like the foam did before, but not as bad and it seems to create a better seal than the foam did.
Easy to install, adhesive quality was good. Installed in 15 mins, after install I tightened clamps on truck cap and there was still a hair of a gap in between my ARE cap and the bed(which is why the last owner was doubled up on for tape there), waited 2 days, parked in hot sun and retightened cap for a much better seal. Works great so far!
Haven't had to take the cap off yet, but the roll came with everything you need. I notched the corners as the instructions said and my bed is staying nice and dry. Way better than the cheap flat cap tape. I was a little worried about getting a good seal around a couple dents in the top of the bed from a previous owner, but it sealed there too, no problem.
