It works well enough if you're just showing photos...I bought it so I could walk and talk (present from a tablet computer)....the range isn't that great and its not reliable if you're going to show videos through it. I can't believe, in this day and age, that there isn't an affordable product that will allow for presentations from a laptop that doesn't need to be directly connected to a projector.
If it works, the picture is pretty good. I have yet to get the sound to do what it's supposed to consistently.
Let me start by saying I ONLY use it to add a second monitor to my laptop. I don't do any real streaming or gaming with this device. I am just limited on space where my office is set up, so I had the bright idea... just get a wireless display adapter and leave it plugged into my monitor. That way I won't have to pretend to be a contortionist every time I want to use a second monitor. Brilliant, you say? Me too! Beautiful concept, just ok result.
This device struggles to stay connected to my laptop. Maybe it's just my hardware, but I can't think that's true. About 4 times a day, I have to go through the tedious process of "reconnecting" the device to my laptop. Is it disastrous? No! Just as annoying as all get out! And as Murphy would predict, it happens every time I'm right in the middle of something big! *SIGH* It's like it knows!
On to the sound. This is only a big problem for me when I'm using online conferencing. I don't feel like I'm a good indicator or what the device does or does not do with sound or what the specific quality is. I've actually found it easier when I have this device connected to just disable its sound and use my laptop speakers that are built in. Works for me!
Bottom line...I'm searching for a replacement. I'm taking my time though to do more research this go round.
Had it for almost a year now. Works pretty good but sometimes it gets choppy and has noticeable lag, and now mine is having difficulty connecting sometimes. Also, after streaming for about an hour or so the sound gets all garbled and I need to unplug the power and reconnect to get it to work properly. Overall it works but I'm hoping ActionTec comes out with an improved product to replace this one.
I have been using this infrequently when I don't have wifi to connect my chromecast too. It worked great for 6 months but in the last few months it has gotten really hot when displaying my phone. At this point it is an expensive paper weight, it wont connect to my phone(Samsung galaxy s9 running android 10) or my windows laptop. I have checked all of the other culprits that it could be but have deemed it is bad firmware or something on the screenbeam. Keep in mind that I haven't updated the firmware in a year and when I try to connect to it over the app the app immediately crashes. I can't recommend this product because of its inconsistencies and its lack of support. I would recommend another option or depending on use case a chromecast since it has none of the issues that I just described and I have had it for 5 months.
