I purchased this as a less expensive alternative to the Voloom, hoping it might work for me. Not so much. The on/off and temperature switch is sort of "mushy" so you don't really know what temperature it's set on. For those of us with thinner hair, the potential for frying your hair at the roots is not an option. I'm sending this one back and have purchased the Voloom, which has a digital temperature control (so no dangerous guessing), is easier to handle and frankly, just works much better to achieve the volume I'm looking for.
This is a good crimper for very short hair and I mean like a Mia Farrow cropped pixie. I have a longer pixie and it works well but its truly to crimp at the root to add volume. The ridges are so close together that if you do it all over your head your going to a tight crimp. I thought my hair was short enough for it all over but it wasnt. I still enjoy it to add volume at the roots and to add a little flair here and there all over sometimes if Im going out. But just know this is really to add volume and not something that would be good all over.
I returned this...I have thinning hair from autoimmune disease and meds, and hopes this would help. Maybe I just don't have enough hair to cover everything, but the crimped parts were visible no matter what I tried, unless I put my hair up, which is not the point. Might work well for someone with more hair
This does what it says but I had a hard time doing it so that the crimping didn’t show. I used it a dozen times thinking I would get the hang of it ( i’ve successfully used plenty of other styling tools) but now it just sits in my closet taking up space. If you have thick hair that can hide the crimping it will likely work well for you but, then again, if you have thick hair you probably don’t need this
I bought this to help with my thin, fine hair. I don't really see a huge difference. Maybe I need to practice some more or pair with other products. It just seems ok to me. Definitely recommend you are VERY careful with heat setting and use heat protectant!
Didn't really do anything for my hair as far as lifting goes. I guess if I wanted to use it for crimping purposes alone then it would work great for that but to sell it as a hair lifter was deceptive for me.
I really wanted to love this product, and maybe the right person will, but I just did not. You could see the crimps underneath my hair and that just wasn’t the look I was going for. Teasing with a comb is just a better option for me. However, it does provide volume and I’m sure it is less damaging than constant back combing!
