After a two hour installation (which includes installing from the four discs as well as updates to the launcher, I created an account at the Elder Scrolls Online website. But after all updates were complete, I couldn't log into the game, and it said my account is still not active, and it told me to log into my account in their website. After doing so, their website said I "haven't bought anything yet". What that meant was that I had to Redeem Code in their website. Problem is, I bought this used, and the code has already been redeemed by the previous owner. Hence, the code was rejected and unusable.
Amazon has to be careful in selling used games like this, it will be unusable to the buyer. What a waste of time.
According to Bethesda support, the activation code only works for pre-order software for this game. If you want the "Explorer's Pack," you're out of luck unless you want to buy it again separately through Bethesda. Two thumbs down from me.
You need a gaming pc to run this on which is not stated. I tried launching this on my school laptop and it turns out I need some kind of graphics card which I can’t get unless I have a particular kind of pc.
Bethesda has the most abysmal support out there. After you spend $60 on the game you'll probably spend >$200 for accessories, or the ability to do things you should be able to do after purchasing the game. If something goes wrong THERE IS NO ONE to email, call or chat with. To me that is criminal for a company to charge premium dollars without the ability to help a customer. I would hope at some point there is a Class Action Suit.
Skyrim was one of the greatest values of all times, the Elder Scrolls series represent GREED, GREED, GREED, GREED. What a joke.
It could have been great but the issues with connecting and getting disconnected right in the middle of a big quest make it just not fun at all.
I've had the game for awhile but had to upgrade my computer before playing. I have been playing about a month and already had to contact support twice and am still waiting on the second issue. I'm losing stuff I'll need to fight the boss I'm fighting now but I can't just leave and come back without having to do the whole thing over and I really shouldn't have to because of ESO's screw ups.
If you liked the earlier games that weren't online, don't get too attached with this new one. You never know when the server will just kick you all the way back to the log in screen for no reason, no error codes, no nothing . Could have been fun but isn't.
I recommend not getting the online membership for perks. You'll likely not get your money's worth with the shoddy service otherwise.
Edited to add: This was also my first experience with MMORP and it was so very disappointing.
I would not recommend this game at all. I played it for about a year, so I feel I gave it a fair shake. Pros: I liked the fact that you could steal things and the Thieves Guild expansion allows you to quickly minimize bounties. The world is large and the quests are adequate, but nothing great. The game was ‘ok’ and there’s a lot to do if you like to solo. Cons; The UI is awful. There was no mini map, status bars, or experience bars. It’s not a point and click interface, so the initial game play is clumsy and really hard to get used to. Getting the cursor over items can be a big frustration, as well. Although I like the thieving aspects, the game makes you ‘hide’ to avoid a bounty, but it can be a false positive at times, as the game will ‘jerk’ you forward so you get caught stealing. At times the game will show the wrong locations for completing a quest. My biggest grip is the online support. They are very incompetent. The game would crash after updates or patches were applied. The support personnel were not helpful one bit. They’d answer an initial email and after that blatantly state they were done working the issue. They’d do no real troubleshooting and only seem interested in taking your money. Once they have that, it’s ‘screw you’. This is an example of a reply I received: “We apologize that we have taken so long to get back to you in regards to your technical issue. Due to high ticket volumes, we will be unable to assist you further with this ticket. We understand this may be frustrating, and we are disappointed that we are unable to deliver a Customer Service experience that is up to our desired standards.” So after 12 months of putting up with things like this, the games poor performance, & sloppy UI code, I uninstalled & it will be looking for a new game. Don’t waste your time or money on this.
