I gave it three tries. Added more water one time. Left it on much longer another time. I don’t get the good reviews. I bought this because I thought it would be better for my hair. I’m 62, am on meds that dry out my hair, and I have Sjogrens. My hair is dry, a little fine, but have a good amount of it. I often put a drop or two of argan oil on it after it is dry, then again at bedtime. That’s worked the best, with the Moroccan oil conditioner or even the discount Tresomme conditioner. This Shea Moisture stuff, though not expensive, was a waste of money for me.
I, too, received a bottle with no seal that had clearly been used— brown conditioner was visible in the pump top when I received it. So to be fair, I don’t know if I’m reviewing the actual product or some doctored version. That said, my first use turned my 2b to 3a hair into a frizzy, crunchy, stringy mess with little curl. It has no slip at all when I apply it, no richness or tangible emollience, the way a really good conditioner does. The smell is not unpleasant, but I don’t love it: it’s like vanilla-scented play-dough. Over all, I wouldn’t recommend this purchase.
Quite disappointed in this conditioner and that it did not come with a pump top like the pictures indicate. The smell is quite off putting. I have 2b/c wavy/curly hair and does nothing to help moisture or frizz. I'll see if it helps improve my hair over time (at least until I get sick of smelling how weird it is) , but so far no luck.
This product worked very well for my sister, I wanted to give it a try because the ingredients really are amazing, and the product smells wonderful...My hair type is 2a, fine, and is waist length. I used this conditioner every time I washed my hair for about a month... unfortunately my hair took a turn for the worse... it became extremely dry and brittle and I had to cut about 3 inches off my hair. I have to wonder if maybe it’s because this conditioner wasn’t meant for my hair type, but if anything I was expecting too much moisture, not for it to dry my hair. After switching my conditioner, and using hot oil treatments, my hair slowly regained its strength and is almost back to normal. Please be aware of any dryness after this product, it unfortunately did not work for me personally and I wish I stopped using it when I first noticed the change in my hair.
I've tried a lot of SM products, and this has been the worst. It comes out like water, and isn't thick like the other conditioners. It doesn't smell as good, and my hair wasn't very soft after. Wouldn't try this one again.
I have 4c hair and started using after big chop. Didn't notice until I was on my second bottle, but this dries my hair and scalp out like crazy. Got More growth after I stopped using it. The shampoo version I haven't had a problem with though.
I smelled it as soon as I opened the box which is unusual; sealed shampoos and conditioners don’t smell through the plastic (even this one, as I’ve used it many times before). Then I see the conditioner’s pump is already loaded with brown. I let it settle and shone a light against it, it’s been used.
