To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
I liked how this item was packaged on a pencil so that I wouldn't have to figure out how it attaches to my bow. The downside is that I don't think it fully encompasses a proper bow hold as I was taught. It also does not fit into my case when it is attached to my bow. I would have to take my bow apart to use this product with every practise session.
No review. Disregard the number of stars. I returned this item unopened because the person I bought it for decided she wanted a different type and model. Picked 3 stars just to clear this item from my "please review" list, but wanted to minimize any negative review impact. I can't figure out how to remove a "please review" item from the list that I am not reviewing.
This is recommended by my daughter's violin teacher and it keep the beginner hand in position very well. However, after 4 classes (one month), teacher said no longer need this and it is in the way to operate the bow so have to took it out. For the price and one month only in use, not recommended it.
I bought this for an adult student to try who has MS, I was also looking at it for some of my younger students. My adult student loved it BUT it DOES NOT fit into the violin case ON the bow! This is really important for prospective buyers to know! My beginning students are NOT comfortable with taking their bows apart to attach and detach the device! She loved it, but needs to be able to put her bow in the case, so we will be looking at alternatives!
My daughter had trouble remembering to hold the bow right, so I bought this gadget. It worked well to help her, but very short term. We also bought a new bow because her old one cracked at the screw from trying to tighten the hair too much (hair was too long and just couldn't make the bow right). The way the plastic piece of a bow frog is attached matters. The opening for the thumb wasn't right and was giving my daughter a blister on her thumb. The old bow was smoother in the spot where this gadget frog goes and worked better. So we ended up fixing the old bow just so my daughter can use this set. Another drawback is that once the frog and fish is on, the bow didn't fit in our violin case anymore! So in a way, it turned out well that our bow cracked, we had to buy another one. So we ended up practicing with the frog/fish bow at home, and taking the new one without to lessons.
