I had been using the 'free' heat gloves that came with my curling wands - not being the wiser that there were different types and qualities out there. The free ones were a kind of mesh which means then they are spread thin and tight (like at the tips of my fingers) the mesh holes were open enough that my fingernails would burn if they touched the curling wand while I held my hair in place, and then I'd have a melted burn mark on my nail polish for the duration of that manicure. I'm pleased to say that these gloves are vastly superior to the free ones, a nice dense fabric instead of a mesh - and my fingernails are not getting melted burn-marks on the tips.
It protects my hands well from curling iron and curling wand burns. I am disabled and my hands shake a bit, this helps me curl my hair without hurting myself. I am pretty young so I love anything that helps me do these kind of everyday things I would otherwise have to give up! It helps me not feel so different. I like it so much I may get another in the near future so I have one for each hand. I have small hands and was concerned about fit- other reviews mentioned it being too big, but it has not been a problem for me-it fits me fine. I wish I had gotten one sooner-I could have prevented many a burn!
Very good idea. When my wife burned her hand with the flat iron a second time, I knew I had to find a solution! She burned her hand in exactly the same place she burned it the first time. I bought two of these and considering how it can prevent another burn, it is very much worth it. She doesn't burn her hand often but you really only need one slip and it's weeks of healing. She has already used this glove and she really likes it. She is really happy I thought of getting this for her. I couldn't do anything after she burned herself but I could do something before! You know that old saying "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure". This glove is my ounce of prevention!
I'm very pleased with this heat styling glove. I took chemotherapy for four years and after my hair grew back everybody was using clipless curling wands which were new to me and I found them very hard to use without protecting my hands. I have a couple of other gloves that came with styling products but they're not very well made and they remind me of the type of exfoliating gloves you would use in the shower. I really like this one because it's made of higher quality material, the seams around the fingers are finished better, and the ribbing around the wrist keeps it securely on my hand, whether I'm wearing it on the right or left.
