Even though the description didn't mention 'Waterproof' i was expecting a little bit of waterproofing in the underlayer of the cover. So i recommend to any new puppy owner do not use this bed until your puppy is potty trained ;)
Weird, I searched for a memory foam dog bed and this came up, but no where in the title does it say “shredded foam” (strange that the title says shredded foam on my invoice). That was a surprise. I was quickly researching so many dog beds for my pup who had surgery, so I didn’t read all the details! My bad. I don’t understand why the title is different on the product listing and in my orders.
This arrives curled up and takes a while to expand and form properly. I was alarmed when I removed it from its packaging and it was lumpy, deflated and showed no signs of expanding, especially cuz I thought it was solid memory foam lol. None of the inserts say to expect it to expand. I was relieved to find the floppy cover filled out later. It’s still somewhat lumpy, but my dog likes it! It’s also not the same as the measurements listed, the bed is definitely an inch to two inches smaller all around. It is quite firm too. I was hoping for something more soft and cushy and wanted a flat foam bed, but this would be a real pain to try to pack back into a box, so I’ll keep it.
Update: I nearly ruined this bed trying to wash it after my dog peed in his kennel. The insides took a full 24 hours to dry, after being run in the dryer multiple times. I ended up letting it sit outside in the sun to dry, which fortunately saved the bed. If you're getting this, use a trashbag or a liner around the insides of this bed! You will need to wash it, and it's a lot easier to replace a trashbag or wipe it down than it is to wash the insides of the bed! The outside cover washes fine for me; it's been through at least 3-4 times since we got it a month or two ago and there's no damage to it
My puppy's first bed was a cotton filled one, and he chewed a hole in it. He hasn't had a bed for about a month now, and we sprung for this when we got the money.
First impressions of the bed are good. It feels a lot heavier and sturdier than the other, but I don't think it's heavy duty enough to keep big time chewers at bay. I'm hoping his bones and toys being in the kennel will keep him occupied, cause I feel like he could put a hole in this one if he really tried.
Bed looks nice and feels nice, and it fits in his 30x19 kennel perfectly :) Kind of obvious that you aren't supposed to wash the inside of this bed (that's usually the case with ones with removable covers) so I don't recommend doing it.
We bought the 40x26 bed for our newly adopted 70lb pitbull mix about 2.5 years ago for his house/crate (which we now leave the door open 24/7). He's never really liked the bed much, and seemed to get up to reposition a lot. He's unfortunately thrown up on it a few times, and slobbers when he chews toys. It's easy enough to clean the cover up, but everything soaks right into the "un-cleanable" foam pieces. The cover seams ripped after about 1-2 months after purchase, since he likes to sometimes scratch at the beds before he lays down.. luckily, we were able to sew it back up, but the thin "fabric" holding the foam chunks together is permanently damaged... this isn't an issue, unless we have to take the cover off to wash it, then foam sometimes falls out. We bought another type of bed which he loves, and has held up much better overall.. we use this memory foam bed as a backup, just in case.
After 2 yrs out of our old dog bed for my Pup, it was time for a new one. I found this one and thought it looked the best online.
Size - This fit my Dog's Crate perfectly. There aren't any gaps, so she won't fall behind it or lose her bones/toys behind it.
It seems comfortable for my dog, with it being memory foam.
After the first few days of her using it, I came home to find my dog in the crate with a big wet spot on the dog bed. At first I thought she tinkled in her crate, but she never does that. It became apparent as it kept happening every day, that it was from her licking / cleaning herself. The wet spots don't go away quickly with this fabric. (I can't imagine that is comfortable for my dog ...)
The fabric also is a magnet for dog hair - much more than my previous dog beds. Unfortunate, because it seems like the most comfortable from a memory foam/cushion perspective.
