Not that happy with this diffuser attachment, but that's not necessarily the attachments fault. I have the DevaCurl blow dryer, and this attachment does not fit well on the blow dryer. It also tends to collapse when I am trying to diffuse my hair which is really annoying.
This diffuser is lightweight and only 1.75" tall when collapsed. And the part that slips over the dryer nozzle stretches ever-so-slightly to accommodate my Conair Vagabond, which has a non-tapering barrel and 2" mouth. I don't mind that half the vents in little circular piece (in the center of the "bell") are blocked by plastic; it's a minor flaw. But it gets annoying when the diffuser keeps collapsing, partially or fully, with little pressure when I'm drying my hair.
Despite the collapse issue, I bought a second diffuser about a year ago to use at home. It was better than the bulky plastic "universal" one that kept falling off my full-size dryer. Since then, 5 of the 6 larger nubs have broken - the bullet-shaped caps came loose and fell off. I just bought a replacement - but not by The Curly Co.
The first time I used this diffuser, I hated it and was positive I would return it. It constantly collapsed against my head as I was drying my hair. I spent more time pulling it back apart than drying my hair. Now that I've used it 5-8 times, I've gotten used to it being so easy to collapse and don't press it as hard against my head. It still collapses partway sometimes and that is annoying. I do like that it is easy to travel with and honestly my hair has never been curlier. Not sure if it's the new product I'm using (LUS Brands for you curly/wavy haired folks), but I'm going to keep giving this product a chance. Will update review if anything changes.
This might work better for someone with finer/less hair than me but regardless, it'll do in a pinch. I flip my hair upside down to diffuse and my hair is so heavy and thick that it partially collapses the diffuser most time. Also, despite the little finger prong things, the hair just all sort of smooshes together at the root and takes ages to dry as there's no circulation. If my hair is already mostly dry, this can help finish it up or if I'm just trying to get a gel cast to set, this can handle it but for thorough diffusing this doesn't really cut it for me.
I have mixed feelings about this diffuser. I will definitely keep using it but it has a good amount of drawbacks. First, the opening to attach to your dryer is a little big for my hair dryer personally so it doesn't stay on great. Also once I open it and start using it it starts to collapse again. At this point though the plastic is too hot for me to touch it and open it back up so by the time I'm done drying my hair it's fully collapsed. Does my hair get dry eventually? Yes but I wish the plastic was sturdier so it wouldn't collapse while doing it.
Bought this for travel but returned it immediately. It does NOT fit my BaBylissPRO Tourmaline Titanium Travel Dryer (I can get it on, but it's way too loose, falls off almost immediately). Also it's very easy to collapse the diffuser, you barely touch it and it's jumping back into it's small shape, very annoying when you're trying to dry a lot of curls and have to keep pulling it open again and again.
Great for traveling. It’s smaller than most diffusers. But it collapses while in use. You have to be gentle. I Don’t love the way curls come out either. Maybe I have to work with it more. Like I said, I’ll use it only for travel, I could care less how my hair looks on vacation. So much hype with this diffuser in the CG community.
I had my eyes on this diffuser for a few months and finally decided to order one. It’s not terrible but like it’s not great and it’s not good it’s just alright. the inside filter thing constantly pops off. It’s so hard to put on my hair dryer and I just really don’t like the results Either. Not very happy:/ really disappointed because I was really excited to see my hair with some more volume:/ currently on a hunt for another diffuser cause this just isn’t it.
I’ve only used it a handful of time since I’ve barely started my curly hair journey- about 1.5 months ago.
Love: Compact and easy to store or travel with (came with a pouch) Actually fits my weird shape blow dryer Heat gets to my roots
Dislike: The diffuser is a bit flimsy and when I am pressing lightly against hair it folds in. My hair is still in its curly journey infancy so obviously my curls aren’t the ones like the Curly Co women that are shown on Instagram (most likely it took them time/trial and error too). I hope to really like this diffuser as my hair continues its journey. After completely dry hair, I do have some light frizz and strays- it could be because I’m new to the game, but it helps to share.
