I loved the idea of this feeder, to keep the flies away from the wet cat food, especially in summer. However, my first feeder failed after a few months and the replacement never worked correctly. The issue BOTH times that the feeder closes while my cat is still eating (see video attached).
The side sensors work but not the front one. I fitted brand new batteries I re-calibrated the feeder
I contacted SureFeed direct and this seems to be a known issue on this feeder, but I couldn't see any update as to how to resolve this. I guess I'll be sending this one back as well for a refund. Pity really.
*** Update May 2020*** Apparently this doesn't work too well for black cats but SureFeed support gave me a way to update the sensitivity of the unit so at least now when it starts to close, it senses something and opens again. Not perfect but its a way forward! ***
Too expensive for what it is. I thought it will open only for my cat.. . But it wasn't the one.. I bought the wrong one and couldn't return it. For what it is.. Yes.. It keeps the flies away.. But I could have bought a much cheaper one just for this... Not worth the money.. I wouldn't recommend it.
Well, I was very happy with this as it worked really well for the first 2 weeks. I cant get hold of the company info to write to them so the best I can do is write my experience here and hope somebody reads it. This is a really good idea and worked for 2 weeks. However, not only did it stop opening and closing after 2 weeks , but the thing draws an extraordinary amount of power, burning 4 batteries in 2 weeks. (Thats £10 a month on batteries to keep it running - assuming it works. (why not provide mains power). Perhaps the product manufacturer could contact me?
Its has worked flawlessly since June 18 2017 but now it often gets stuck in the closed position. As the return window closed on the 18 July 2017 I am now stuck with a faulty unit. I thought you had a 1 year guarantee with all purchases of this type?
Disappointed.! having hot weather with flies about decided a pet bowl with closing lid run by batteries would be ideal. I was wrong. Elderly cat was very stressed with the continual orange flashing light that was on to help with training. especially during the night time after 2 days had to give up , as cat was not eating. Why have any lights !!!
First one broke after a few months. Received a replacement from amazon and this too has stopped working with in 6 months. When it worked it was great for keeping wet food from drying out and from flys being attracted to the food in the summer.
This product would be great but it makes a terrible noise when it closes - i am assuming it is faulty and will attempt to contact the seller for a refund or replacement. I have no doubt it would be great if it was not switched off due to the noise which scares the cat every time they go near it.
I thought this would be a really good pet bowl however when my cat goes up to it, it doesn’t open so I wave my hand in front of it for her and then it shuts on her whilst she’s eating. I don’t understand why it doesn’t stay open! What a waste of money!
