Great item to hang a swinging chair. Comes with two ropes but you only need one. Be sure to watch the video on how to adjust the length of rope. It is at the bottom of the item description on Amazon. I had to watch it a few times to get it right. The mechanism is very ingenious. To hang a chair you will also need a hook kit. I used this one https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07349ZS7C/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1. See my review of the macrame hanging chair to see how I hung it.
I only needed the rope to span about 12 inches between the two metal rings, but this product is designed to span about 24 to 36 inches. However, you can take the end of the rope and loop it through one or two of the round rings a second time to make it shorter than 24 inches. See my picture for how I accomplished this.
I initially skipped the recommendation from Amazon to order this when I ordered my daughters macrame hanging chair along with the hook kit. I wasn’t sure I needed to spend the additional money on this after I just purchased the swing and hooks.. well I was silvery wrong and had an extremely upset child.. we mounted the hook it and once we took the swing out of the box and hung my daughter would’ve had to use a ladder to reach the swing! So I immediately went back on to Amazon and ordered this rope. Two days later it arrived, we very quickly added it to her swinging chair and now her chair fits perfectly in her room and at a perfect level. Definitely worth the additional cost to the chair and is very great quality! Don’t skip this item!!
I’m returning this item and I will just buy some camping straps with loops that will wrap around a tree trunk/branch with a locking caribeaner. hammock rope is awful. Very confusing execution and this is coming from someone who ties ropes often. I figured it out, but it’s not easy for the average person. They are not big enough to wrap around a tree at all, there are no hooks whatsoever, it just had two closed off ends so it is not easy to remove. I want to be able to just hook it up and remove my hammock when done so it doesn’t stay out in bad weather. Not really adjustable. I just had to wrap it around multiple times. It mentions a plastic buckle, I’m not sure if they are referring to the black pieces on the rope but these don’t seem relevant to the directions, and plastic sounds less safe. It also mentions putting it around a locking caribeaner but it doesn’t come with one.
Bought this to hang a hammock chair, unfortunately this items is NOT adjustable. In the instructions it simple has 4 steps and tells you to un-claps the easy adjuster to make the rope shorter. The black pieces are melted together, making this impossible to adjust . Had to return it because the rope was way too long for my needs. I'm actually very disappointed, I wanted to hang my chairs up last weekend. Oh well, I guess I'll need to look elsewhere.
I bought 2 to hang a hammock and I don't understand them at all. The lock doesn't even fit to latch, let alone lock. I had to jerry rig them and it looks dumb but works. Fortunately I have thick trees so you can't see the mess I had to create to make them functional.
Went to set it up, as pictured. The first moment my 120 lb body sat in my hammock chair the safety pin snapped like it was made out of plastic. THANK GOD I was only a couple feet off the ground. DO NOT BUY THIS IS UNSAFE.
Also does not come with the necessary carabiners. ALSO is too short; check your length needed.
These people have a serious quality control problem. I used one to hang a hammock chair and it has worked fine for maybe 10 uses. I just used it again and the metal snapped and I dropped to the ground. I wasn't doing anything strange, it just snapped this time. This is a dangerous product.
