If you are looking at this page and are having a hard time deciding between dark brown and medium brown, the actual creams are lighter in reality than on this product page. I ordered medium brown the first time around and, as with others leaving reviews, noticed that the medium brown is much lighter than expected and seems to have a definite red tint to it. I'll be ordering dark brown this time around to give the darker colour a shot.
Overall I like this product and found that it worked well and was easy to use even though the initial colour I ordered was not what I was expecting. I have attached a closer up image of the medium brown cream under brighter lighting to help others deciding on which brown to go with.
I purchased three of these, Black, Dark Brown, and Medium Brown. I bought them to recondition some old Allen Edmonds I found. The black and dark brown worked perfect and the cream was just that, a nice creamy consistency. Unfortunately, the medium brown came dried up and almost empty, not sure what happened here. For now, I am giving 2 stars since there is some terrible QA going on but will update when the replacement one comes in.
******UPDATE***** I received the replacement Medium Brown Shoe Cream today, it is perfect and not dried up. Thank you Amazon for such a quick fix to the issue.
Works as leather lotion should. Only rated four stars as the container was cracked upon arrival so jar needed to be discarded after first use. Otherwise would have been a 5. See photo attached for colour.
My container was wrapped in the thinnest bubble wrap on the market and placed in a padded envelope. Obviously it arrived with a cracked lid. Fortunately the glass was intact, so all it took was a bit of super glue.
Despite that I'm still giving this four stars because of how great the actual product is.
It goes on nice and smooth, coverage is excellent and it even smells kinda nice! Much easier to use than standard hard wax. Once dry it buffs down to a nice light shine, as leather should look. It made my horribly scuffed shoes look relatively new again.
I picked up a few of these coloured shoe creams in light brown, scotch, and black.
For the price they are great, but feel that since a little goes such a long way I should have sprung for a more expensive brand.
While these polishes work as described, I found that they are a bit more difficult to use well than others (which were more expensive) I have used. I found that this polish required more applications and a longer drying time to really let the colour set into the leather.
Also, after drying they were a bit more difficult to buff off and I found that no matter how thin I applied it, or how long I let it sit before buffing the shoes a lot of the pigment came off the shoes leaving less pigment in the leather.
I found this to be the case more with the light brown and scotch than the black.
After using a coloured polish I top with Saphir Pate Du Luxe wax to add a lot more shine and protect the shoes a bit more. With the brown coloured polishes I found that they tended to buff off with the wax more than the black.
With that being said, just be prepared to apply one to two more coats of this polish on a coloured leather compared to others. However, for the price I am very happy with how they performed.
The colours in the pictures are very accurate which is great since I was worried about matching to my shoes without being able to compare them side by side.
Bought the mahogany/chestnut polish to fix some scratches on an oxblood leather couch that the pets have nearly destroyed with their nails. This is the second time I have polished the couch & both times it has brought it back to life. I won’t be sitting on it with white pants anytime soon but I gave it the tissue test and nothing came off after buffing twice once it was dry. Under $10 to save a couch is a good deal in my book.
Great shoe cream that really brings the life back to your shoes. I have basically extended the life of my worn casual shoes by another year by using this to mask the wear on the leather. In fact, I find they look even better as the cream gives that darker and more rich look to the leather than before. It applies easily, and while I don't use the standard polish tools, I simply use paper towels to apply this and it works just great. I have this as a staple and would recommend this to anyone. Of course, colour matching can be an issue, so if you are picky about maintaining the same colour, you would need to test it first. As I mentioned, it was darker than the colour I had on the shoes but found that I liked the result anyways. I usually redo my shoes every 2-3 weeks, and I wear them daily, so that gives you an idea of how long it lasts.
This is the "Medium Brown" which is actually labelled "Chestnut" on the container. Photo is accurate colour representation. Choosing a colour is hard but I got lucky. Almost perfect match. Product went on easy easy and buffed up nice. Good purchase.
I used it to refresh a burgundy leather sofa and a loveseat. Bought two since I was not sure if one would be enough. One jar was exactly what I needed to cover the leather parts only (the backs and sides are similicuir). Waited 24 hours and buffed it with a microfiber cloth. The cloth turned red, but no color was transferred later to our clothes. No odor at all.
