UPDATE: Before I returned them, I had my son make a large and LIGHT wind catcher with his 3d printer to see if that would solve the problem. They work very well now. SEE NEW VIDEO....They are not very loud. The tubes are not large enough for a loud sound. If I buy another wind chime I will make sure of the diameter of the tubes. But they are very nice. If the manufacturers are reading this, I recommend they enlarge the wind catcher and make it a lot lighter.....changed my rating to 3 STARS
The fan was set to high in the originalvideo attached....They are a beautiful set. But they did not chime. I tried the striker(???) up high....down low....in the middle......I switched out the wind catcher and tried the striker up high....low...and in the middle. It takes a hurricane force wind to get them to chime.
They so purty I want to keep them, but I miss the sound of the wind chimes I used to have. Sending them back.
These wind chimes are very beautiful, arrived in beautiful packing and all was wonderful. However, it seems that the reason they are called "wind chimes for people who like their neighbors" is because it takes nearly a gale force wind for them to chime. I have moved them around, have switched out the clapper, and...not so much sound. I do enjoy seeing them though :))
The only negative is that the wood portions are not treated and turned ugly brown in short order as I have this outdoors. The sound is great however. You will want to treat it with something if you hang outdoors. I am expecting will need to purchase another chime within a year.
The chimes are beautiful but I have yet to have the wind blow strong enough to hear them chime. I bought them for my mother because she loves chimes but I have no idea how they sound! She has them outside, so I would think when the wind blew they would work but they haven’t.
