Ok, now that I've got that out of the way, I'll leave a proper review. This was bought not as a night light, but as a Cute Thing. At this, it excels. It has a wonderfully soft surface, a delightful, cheerful face, and a good glow. Also, YOU BOP IT ON THE HEAD TO MAKE IT CHANGE COLOUR. This is important.
It glows very well, and has lasted a good many hours so far on only one charge. However, I do question its utility as a night light, as on its pure warm white mode it's remarkably bright. The colour cycling doesn't go through a full specturm, but is very pleasing, and does have some dimmer shades (bop it to lock it in place), so this mitigates the former issue somewhat.
I have noticed that it doesn't respond to being bopped if it's on a hard surface, but on a carpet it's ok. it's also possible to squeeze it too much as one fawns over its cuteness, which leaves it looking rather depressed until it's able to reinflate. It's possible that a truly excessive cuddle might not fix itself; I have had to massage it back into shape a couple of times.
Hours of funn watching it light up as you bop it on the head.
I use this in my toddler’s room, she recently moved to her own room and wakes up once or twice. On the one colour setting, it is bright enough for her to see and for me to walk in, but not so bright that it wakes her.
The colorful setting is a little distracting & also spooky for night waking :-) so - I haven’t used it much. You have to tap it to change the colors (once you put it on using a switch at the bottom), which can be confusing at first, but once you get the hang of it, it’s pretty easy.
It retains charge for quite some time. My daughter once put it on in the morning ( after an entire night of use), & when we came home in the evening we were still able to use it for 4 hours without having to charge it. She’s also pulled it apart during a moment of exploration - & it went on after I pulled it together.
My video isn't very clear, but hope I make my point!
The kitty in white light is actually very cute and my little one loved it. The material is indeed very soft to touch. The charging port is at the bottom along with the mains switch and it was not the most convenient thing. It worked alright though.
However, the change in mode to a 7-color light mode seemed to happen on its own (without any tap on its head as the instructions suggested) during the night and it was not very pleasant for a sleeping infant. However, to their credit, they accepted the return immediately. Could be the case of a defective piece.
I was hoping its multicolour light feature meant that it faded between colours, when really it flicks through them quite rapidly. It's not something I'd leave on as a night light, but it's cute at parties!
