These lights are really bright! I put in the batteries and nearly blinded myself. I chose to stick them to the bottoms of my cabinets rather than screw them in. The lights come with both options. When I turned them on they worked great. The remote is a nice option as well as a timer that has increments of 15, 30, 60, and 120 minutes. I also like that the lights have two brightness levels. One thing that has really been bothering me is that they randomly come on and turn off by themselves. I come into the kitchen and one of the lights will be on when I haven't turned it on. Sometime later, it will turn off by itself. I do not know why this is happening. It doesn't just happen with one light either. It is any of the lights at any given time. If the random turning on and off of the lights was not present this product would receive
These were easy to assemble and mount, and very easy to turn off/on either manually or with the remote. Dimmer is functional, too. But I was surprised that they are not very bright. I have a small kitchen and thought I could use one under each counter and the rest elsewhere in the house, but I ended up using 3 each under two counters, and they still are not very bright. I normally don't like LED because it is so garish, and use mostly incandescent. But I wanted the "surgery theater" option for these workspaces and did not get it with these. They're "soft" but still bluish/white as LED often is. Plus, the batteries wear down fairly quickly so even though they still light, they get dimmer and dimmer . . . . I had one set near an espresso machine and the steam loosened the adhesive strip pretty quickly so the lamps fell off; I remounted with the screws provided. But I still need to replace the batteries fairly frequently to maintain the max light, which is underwhelming.
An overhead light in my kitchen burned out and until I could replace it, I bought a number (nine) of these lights to give me the illumination I needed in my windowless kitchen. While the lights weren't particularly bright, the brightness was sufficient, but the real problem was that because I could not drill into the cabinet bottoms in my rental apartment, I needed to rely on the 3M stickers that came with the lights. I followed instructions by cleaning the surface but in almost all cases, the lights adhered for only a day or so and then fell down. I got in touch with the manufacturer, but the response wasn't particularly helpful, so I bought stronger stickers, same result. Again, I contacted the company. Finally, the manufacturer told me to buy velcro fastenings, which I did and that worked. But I wish I had known that at the outset, or I wish the proper adhesion materials had been included. I ended up putting out extra money until I found the right solution. Had information about better adhesion been included initially, I would have gone sstraight to the Velcro (even though it cost extra), but instead I spent time and money (and a considerable amount of time in the dark) trying to solve the problem. Finally I was able to have the overhead light bulb replaced, so now the lights are installed and sticking, but not used. Oh, and the batteries in two of them wore out quite quickly. Don't know if this was a problem with the lights or my (brand new) batteries, but thought I'd mention it.
I loved these lights when I first put them up about a month ago. They were exactly what I wanted for my dim apartment kitchen, and they were so easy to put up. However, they have started to get darker after only one month of light use. It is irritating as I typically use three more frequently than the others, so they are noticeably darker now than the other ones. While they may not be working the way I expected them, they are a good option for renters who can't do permanent installs and are reasonably priced.
*Update* Dropping to 3 stars. I put all of the lights up on a Saturday using the provided 3M tape. One Monday, 2 of the lights fell off. I put them back, they fell off again. On Tuesday, 2 more lights fell. At that point, I took down all of the lights and plan to install them with the screws. The 3M tape included with these lights does not seem to be a heavy duty version sufficient for keeping these lights hanging up. Should be fine with the screws (fingers crossed), but don't include the tape if it isn't going to work properly. 3 stars - poor remote, poor 3M tape.
I love these lights. They are perfect. Right brightness level, they are a warm white and don't have a blue-fluorescent look to them (which is what I wanted), were easy to install (we just used the 3M tape), and look very nice. We ended up doing one light under each side of our cabinets for maximum lighting and prepping food and cleaning dishes is now SO much easier.
The ONLY thing holding these back from 5 stars is the remote. The idea of having a remote is great. However, don't expect to hit the on button and all of your lights to come on. I have found that you need to be 3-5 ft. away from the light and pointed directly at that one light in order to get it to come on. I installed it with the wireless signal facing out as instructed, so I do not believe that is the issue. Even lights that are roughly 15 inches apart will not both turn on if you are pointing the remote directly in the middle of them. Since I installed 11 of these lights, having to point the remote at 11 different locations to get all of the lights to come on is a little frustrating, silly looking and inconvenient. I find that I just turn the lights on and off by tapping the light instead of using the remote. So, the lights still work 100% fine - the remote is just not as helpful as I had hoped.
TLDR: Great lights. Remote is not so great. Still highly recommend.
We were very happy with the lights when we first installed them. Very bright and stayed up with sticky adhesive pads. We really love the remote and the dimming feature. However, we are having an issue with lights coming on at random times. It started with 2 in opposite corners that would be on if we walked in the room without anyone touching them or the remote. Now we have it happening with 2 more. Not sure what that’s about but it’s a bit annoying since it means wasting battery life.
I have had this light for about a week. It is under a kitchen cabinet and in a dark corner of the kitchen. Gives good light. The problem is that it turns itself on, had it happen twice so far. This unit is said to work with a remote, not included. It does not have Motion activation.
Devices with remotes, TVs in particular, have been known to turn themselves on. This is caused by stray infra-red signals either in the home or coming from outside. Ok for TVs, annoying, but they are plugged into the electric grid. These LED lights run off batteries so when they turn themselves on they drain the batteries until you turn the unit off. Also since they do have Remote capabilities they are constantly draining the batteries a little to keep the sensor active, for the remote signal, should you have one.
They state 100 hour of battery life, which is most likely true, but what is the quality of the light? If it is just dimly lit, it is still working. I will not return the unit, there is nothing wrong with it but I will look for something without remote or motion capabilities, if that exists.
These were the best things ever. Until about 2 weeks in one light no longer lights except at the lowest level. Makes it useless. I’d love a replacement from the vendor. Aside from now only having 2 lights they’re great. Being able to dim them, have them on a timer, or even turn one on by pushing it. Great and recommend EXCEPT that you may expect to lose actual functionality of 1 or more. Also the adhesive strips provided only held 1 on the cabinet; had to screw in hard to hold them. Ouch! Would truly love a replacement! then 5/4 stars pretty much overall.
