Having read the reviews I'm sure some people are very happy with this product. As for myself, it didn't fit around my teeth without there being folds making it very uncomfortable to have in my mouth. I've attempted to remould it numerous times following the instructions to a T, and still to no avail. Great for others and a waste of money for me
Using this for jiu jitsu, feels horrible in your mouth, quality of the product feels really cheap and tight, the holes created in guard had plastic falling of due poor manufacturing. Hard to get a correct fit. I would recommend a boil and bite despite their lack of ability to talk but do not waste money on this.
As a medical professional with 20+ years of contact sports experience, I must say that this is, by far, the worst mouthguard I've ever used. It was unusable after only a couple of uses. It's almost paper thin and provides very little actual protection beyond serving as a thin, plastic-like barrier between the teeth. It also tends to bend out of shape with potential to grind and cut into the gums. The only benefit to this mouthguard would be the ability to talk and breath easily if needed for a minimal contact sport.
Not to be used for jiu jitsu or any kind of grappling for that matter... The material is so rigid that even though i formed it perfectly to shape, i could feel it grinding away at my gums to the point that it made my gums bleed in many places. It feels rock hard when in use, then when you wash it with warm water in the sink it completely loses its shape (barely hot water). It's nowhere near as good as the softer under armor protector that my dog ended up eating... I'm going to try to find that one again. I gave it 2 stars because it wasn't impossible to mold. It could be useful in gardening or some other safe activity...
This might be the worst mouth guard I’ve ever used in my 10+ years of combat sports. I bet with a professional fitting it’s amazing. But even with help from 2 professional fighters, cornermen and coaches we couldn’t get it. Because it’s flat or because my mouth is small it just won’t properly form when I do the folding. It has these huge billows/creases that form as your folding it over. After 20 attempts we just said f it and I used the gyms $3 mouth guard which is at least pre “folded/molded”. And it didn’t even come with a case. For shame. I guess it just depends on your mouth shape?
Info of this item not correct. This maybe great for team sports like basketball soccer n maybe even football. But for contact sports like boxing mma or mauy Thai. Not enough protection. Busted my lip 1st time I use this item. I have had few different type of mouth guards and this is the only one that had busted my lip. Don't get me wrong this is a awesome mouth piece. Easy to use. Easy direction. Very very light. BUT in my opinion this mouth piece not good nor have enough protection for combat sports such as mma boxing mauy Thai.
Pros: great price, very lite, easy to mold plus easy instruction.
Cons: not for contact sports such as mma boxing mauy Thai. Not enough protection for teeth.
For background, I Play roller derby and have molded several of the older Sisu mouthguards within 4-6 tries. They have been comfortable and easy to use.
This thing, however, was misery. It does not get pliable enough when heated, it starts hardening immediately when you take it out of the water, and it will not Mold properly at all once it’s in your mouth (primarily I’m finding it’s leaving ridges at all the bend points). I’m not sure what sisu did, but i hate this thing. I’m fairly certain I’m near the limit on how many times I can heat it up, at which point it is going directly into the trash. What a waste of money and a huge disappointment.
It’s got 2 stars for now because I’m holding out some glimmer of hope that it magically does what it’s supposed to do before I toss it entirely.
