1. MY HAIR I have oily roots + dry hair, and at times, there's some buildup on my scalp. I've been researching a lot about shampoos and conditioners and what is the best way to take care of my hair.
2. INITIAL THOUGHTS This is an incredible shampoo + its accompanying conditioner, it cleans my scalp and leaves my hair really soft. Usually, the day I shampoo, my hair is quite dry and is a mess but the next day my hair starts looking better. It leaves hair soft and clean for a long time. With other shampoos, I felt my hair was always 'heavy' and dull but not with this. You can probably go without shampooing for a few days. This shampoo contains COCO-BETAINE, which is a gentle cleanser.
3. BE CAREFUL THOUGH - THE SHAMPOO
I've been reading about sulfates and silicones in shampoos/conditioners and how people are avoiding these harsh ingredients and reaching for sulfate-free and silicone-free products. Even though this product is silicone-free, it still has SODIUM LAURETH SULFATE, which, you guessed it right, is a sulfate. (See the picture I've attached).
4. BE CAREFUL THOUGH - THE CONDITIONER The accompanying conditioner contains ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL, which is a drying alcohol one should avoid. It also contains CETEARYL ALCOHOL, which is good moisturizing alcohol. (See the picture I've attached).
After using this product for a few weeks, I think what's happening is that it's drying out my scalp a bit and because of that, my scalp is producing natural oil to compensate, which is leading to build up and more oily-ness on my scalp.
5. YOU DO YOU These points may not be valid to you if you don't care much about ingredients and this product is working well for you. I just wanted to give a summary of how I've started to read labels and how I choose products.
6. HELPFUL INFO There are also some brilliant concepts like CO-WASHING (sulfate-free conditioner-washing) and LOW-POO (using gentle, sulfate-free shampoo), you can Google more about these. These methods have changed people's hair for the better and they even claimed their hair does not flake, itch, or get oily as it did before.
This shampoo would be ok if it was sulfate free and didn't have 100 tons of perfume in it. The fragrance was way too strong which seems to be a pattern in L'Oreal hair care. I purchased it because it had salicylic acid in it which is good at keeping the scalp clear but I cant get past it making my fine hair frizzy and the strong perfume. I bought the corresponding conditioner as well which I couldn't use for long because it added another 100 tons of perfume. My hair didn't feel clean. Very disappointed.
Love this product. I don't use many L'Oreal products but this is what I've been waiting on for all my life. Smells great. Oily roots, dry ends NO PROBLEM! Have not had split ends in a long time. Can go an extra day before having to wash my waist length hair. Ordering from here I'm sure if it's in stock. Go somewhere else and in probably won't be there. That's how good it is. Hope L'Oreal never stops making this PLEASE!!!!
I have very oily hair and this product along with the preshampoo mask, conditioner and dry shampoo only made my hair worse. Makes me wonder if the top reviews I read are paid for. My hair wasn't this oily with my previous hair care products. And it stinks!! Having fresh roots for 48 hours is a joke. If I wash my hair in the evening, I need to rewash it in the morning. The dry shampoo doesn't do a thing either, except put more of that horrendous scent in my hair. FYI for women with oily hair, the best tip for me is making sure my shampoo is clear. Whatever is put in the shampoo to make it milky, makes my hair more oily. And I just condition the ends. So far a combination of Dove (purple) for volume and Dove oxygen moisture shampoo will be my go to again after this L'oreal crap is gone. And Batiste dry shampoo is awesome! I use the one for blond hair.
Finally, something that works for me. I broke down and decided to do some research on what would be a good product for me. This was very highly ranked and one of the mire affordable brands among much, much more expensive brands. I’m a 37 year old blonde man with medium length hair. I usually find that most shampoos either leave my hair flat and oily or dry and poofy. This stuff gives the look and feel I’ve been wanting. Soft and shiny but with some volume but not too much. I also read it’s supposed to be good for hair loss. But I haven’t been using it long enough to comment on that. It does seem take a bit longer for my hair to get oily. I’m forced to wear a hat at work and I get sweaty sometimes, so my hair is wrecked when I get home. But it’s not quite as bad and it’s in better shape in the morning if I shampoo before bed. My only complaint is the scent is potent. I can’t smell it once it’s on my head, but straight out of the bottle it’s got a strong smell. The scent is a like a cheap perfume, but it doesn’t bother me since I can’t really smell it. I only use the shampoo, I don’t like using conditioner. I don’t really need it. My daughter has been using this shampoo as well and she says she likes it, but she hasn’t been using it long enough to comment on how well it performs for her. If she keeps using it I may edit my review. The consistency of this shampoo is quite thick and stringy and it provides a good thick lather upon application. Ordinarily I don’t use a lot of shampoo, but I’ve found it works better if I use a generous amount of this stuff.
Ok time to share my experience with this shampoo/conditioner. I effing LOVE it!! I have been searching FOREVER for a really good shampoo and conditioner that didn’t just work the first few times I’ve used it. I have been using this combo for over a month now.. it smells amazing and the scent of it lasts more than just the day I wash my hair! My hair hasn’t been frizzy and doesn’t get greasy as quick as it used to! It lathers up really well and it’s easy to wash out. I haven’t had ANY complaints!! And it’s affordable!! No, I’m not getting paid to write this... just wanted y’all to know how fabulous it is ❤️
This cured my son’s scalp issues. He had dandruff and eczema and his scalp was just a mess. The more he washed it the greasier it got and the worse the dandruff got. He used the most expensive dandruff shampoos on the market but for some reason they were making his issue worse! I bought this set and within two days his scalp and hair noticeably improved and two weeks later, it’s looking totally healthy. Now my entire family is using it so I just bought more. I love it too but it took the color out of my hair so I’m bummed I can’t use it. Anyway, despite this, a great product and great price.
Love this shampoo! I tend to have oily roots and workout most days (6-7 days a week) doing higher intensive weight intervals which means gross, sweaty hair nearly every day on top of the oiliness. This shampoo has been great at keeping the oil under control. When I do an active recovery day and can skip a wash, there’s no oil build up and my hair still looks good! I realized just how effective this shampoo was when I ran out and tried another product for a couple weeks. Within 24 hours of washing with another product my hair looked gross! I switched right back and haven’t had any issues.
After reading lots of posts and recommendations online, I decided to buy this shampoo and also the clay. The product itself smells great and my hair feels less oily on the second day after I washed my hair, but it made my scalp feels so itchy, I tried it several times, it always made my scalp feels itchy after the second day. I guess this shampoo isn't a good choice for me... My scalp never felt this itchy before, and I have to stop using this shampoo and the clay. Stop using this shampoo have solved my scalp problem. However, it does good job reducing the oil on my hair, it's probably a good choice for people who do not have sensitive scalp.
