Im not sure this is worthy of the price, ive used shock doctors (made me gag and couldnt breath) i have used opro gold also, (very good imo) so ive read alot up about these sisu mouth guard and how good they are. I spent most of the day moulding it, and re moulding parts of it. When this sets it is very hard on the top of my gums, maybe it just needs to be worn in. I can breath great, talk and drink with ease. No gagging as of yet. I would like to add I havent used this in sparring yet, so I may be back to add more stars, as long as I dont gag and it protects my teeth. I willbe wearing it around the house to see if that helps
I found the guard a bit difficult to mold to my teeth correctly. Took me 4 or 5 tries. It did remold easily each time. The guard ships completely flat and after the hot water dunk, when you mold it you fold the guard up over the front of your teeth. The main problem is that when you do so it's easy for the guard material to pinch together and end up protruding out. I found it's important to start in the very middle of your upper middle teeth and form the guard up and back on each side. Even then be careful not to form protrusions at parts of the side teeth. Pictures taken from one of my early fitting attempts to show the type of protrusion that formed in the front. Obviously once the guard has hardened any impact would press that protrusion right into the underside of your upper lip. I did eventually get the guard to fit without protrusions, but it was a bit of a pain to be honest. Another small knock is the guard didn't ship with any sort of carrying case or shell. For the price I would have though something to carry it in might be included. It does now fit snugly and comfortably and I'll likely get years of use out of it. I'm just not sure I'd be in a rush to buy the same again.
got this for bjj, haven't had a chance to try it yet in traing.
Was looking for a thin mouth guard because my shock doctor boil and bite was giving me mandibular pain and i have to admit that this one sure is thinner. But product i received had flakes of plastic (or glue?) sticking out where they looked like put 2 parts together and i had to scrape it off with a toothbrush.
Also, the instructions says to mold at 60 degree Celsius but it was not feasible as it remained too hard... ironically would have broke my teeth if i insisted on molding at that time... I increased the heat to 80 and was able to mold to fit.
