Despite a number of reviews claiming this product made their hair fall out (cough, cough), I decided to risk baldness to give it a try.
It is kind of messy, but you apply it to your roots for 5 minutes before shampooing. It has a light, pleasant scent, and it doesn’t dry to a hard helmet—at least not within the five minutes.
I shampooed and conditioned with the Clay shampoo/conditioner. When dry, my hair was clean and soft. I experienced no more or less shedding than normal. I used a little mouse when I dried my hair, but no other product.
The next morning, my bra-length hair was a bit oily at the roots. Maybe not as bad as without it, but not in great shape.
So I repeated the experiment, but this time I used the clay dry shampoo before bed, and lightly as I was fixing my hair in the mornings. This time the roots stayed fine not just for two days, but for 4 (although the 4th day was a bit grungier than I prefer).
So it did behave as advertised for me, but only when used in concert with the other products in the line. I have not tried to see if I get the same results from just any dry shampoo, because frankly, I really like their dry shampoo.
I give it 4 stars, because while I like it, I don’t outright love it. But it does work, and I am not bald.
i use this most washes and definitely notice when i don’t use it. it’s not a miracle but it definitely extends my hair by about a day and leaves it feeling very clean. that said i don’t understand why it doesn’t come in a squeeze bottle. i have long nails so i use a spoon to get the product out so it doesn’t get under them.
This mask worked like a charm. I had really oily, greasy, itchy roots. That no matter what I used didn’t feel 100percent clean. This did the trick I don’t have anymore build up, itching, and it feels like my scalp can breathe. The only CON is that I used almost all of the product for one mask. I wish you’d get more product for the cost. I also have extremely sensitive skin and this didn’t make me break out at all.
4.0 out of 5 starsGood pre-wash treatment for oily scalp

Good treatment for absorbing extra oil at your scalp. I only need a small amount for my thinner hair. It dries pretty quickly and rinses out without any issue. Be sure to put on dry hair only and as you rinse it out, massage your scalp to get all of the product off. My hair is also color treated and this is safe for that, no issues with stripping the color out.
It smells very nice, although I do wish the fragrance was a bit less (I am sensitive to lots of fragrance). Overall, I like this product.
My biggest complaint about my hair is it becomes oily after 24 hours. No matter the shampoo or conditioner, its greasy. But I have never used a PRE mask on my hair, so I followed the directions under the label perfectly. Used it on dry hair, for 5 minutes, getting down to the scalp and root and not worrying too much about the remaining parts of my hair. It dried a bit then I washed it out, before washing with shampoo and conditioner. My hair styled the same after, and I would say it's noticeably less greasy after 24 hours, which is when my hair needs to be washed again. It smells nice though, and it was very easy to use.
I definitely noticed a difference after trying this product. I have color-treated hair and usually shampoo 2-3 times a week. Although this is targeted for cleaning the scalp/oily roots, I found it did a very nice job in conditioning my hair. I left it on longer than suggested (about 15 minutes) and was very pleased with the condition of my hair after shampooing and conditioning. It has a pleasant scent and did a really good job.
