2.0 out of 5 starsGood if your dogs aren’t allergic to them

These are very well-made products that my dog was highly allergic to, as was I when I had been touching them. Not sure which element is the allergen but we both had such a strong reaction that I had to stop using them.

I have 3 dogs and a doggy door. However, I have an old lady Chihuahua who simply will not go out at night due to fear. Therefore, we started buying puppy pads to place on the bathroom floor for her at night. These pads are really great for the smell compared to the blue and white ones! Really!!! Those blue ones reek! These black carbon pads absorb the ODOR quickly and the color stays NEUTRAL with the black CARBON lining. Great!
The only problem is that when my little Chihuahua goes potty at night, there is a 50/50 chance that the pee will ROLL OFF THE SIDE of the pad and the pee will be under the pad in the morning when I see it. It looks as if the white edges (there are 2 white edges) of this carbon pad DO NOT LEAK, but the solid black edges do (there are 2 black edges). (See the image of the product to understand that 2 sides have white-lined edges while 2 sides do not.) Some days I have a mess to clean up, but other days it is fine. It simply depends on how close to the edge my little doggy goes potty. If she goes potty in THE VERY MIDDLE, it works just GREAT!! If she is near one of the edges, I might have a MESS IN THE MORNING. The pad only absorbs so quickly, and the gel can only form so fast; however, this does not mean that there should be a leak. I really think the company should work on the binding on all 4 of the edges.
I want to address a few of the other customers who took pictures of their "pads not working" and posted them here with negative reviews. At least 2 of you have used the pads UPSIDE DOWN. Of course, the pad will not absorb pee on the plastic side! You have to put the mesh, webbed CLOTH SIDE UP. The plastic side goes on the bottom. Yikes! Really people!?! If you are someone who rated this product low, but YOU WERE TO BLAME for the product not working, you should be ashamed of yourself and come back to this page for a more accurate and honest assessment of the product. Really!
Also, I want to assert that if your dog uses these every day, you should CHANGE THESE PADS EVERY DAY. I understand that if you have a big dog using these, you might need 2-3 a day, but even then, they cost pennies a day! I got my 100 pack for $17.00. This works out to $.06 a pad. If your dog pees on it, by the end of the day, you should change it! CHANGE IT after a day. You don't have to change it right after he/she pees on it, but you should be changing these regularly. Come on...don't blame the manufacturer for defective pee pads when THEY WORK for your dog to pee on but then you don't change them enough and so your pet goes potty on the carpet next to the pad. Come on. Let's be logical here. That is not a manufacturing issue. That is a YOU issue. Be kind to your pet. Don't make him/her step on gooey carbon gel on a plastic pad to go potty. Change it once in a while!
I moved from paper towels to these for my older cat who won't share a box with the other cat. She used to have accidents in other places in the bathroom before these pads. Now she only goes on the pads. They're big enough to place partly under the box and fan out in front. They're not exactly great at hiding odor, but they have been great at fast absorption of urine, and are good for two goes. I haven't had any problems with leaking, rolling up, nails scratching (they're razor sharp) the pad, or missing the pad. They're also great for catching stray litter, which drives me nuts. These will be good for protecting the floor and baseboard. Overall I would give these a 4.5 out of 5 due to occasional odor. I would definitely recommend these and am going to give the larger size package a try.
I really liked that these were eco-friendly and came in a large amount, but I did have problems with urine soaking through. I used them with cats, but I can't image a dog peeing less per use. I ultimately ended up layering them to help with the soak-through problem. The back does seem to have a protective layer, but--I don't know!--I just know some liquid got through. When I layered them, I could clearly see when liquid got through.
So, I think it's worth trying out. For smaller animals, it might be perfect. 2 of my cats used them--a 10 lb disabled cat and a 15 lb non-disabled-just-a-copycat cat. I think the 10lb cat was ok, and the soak through was happening with the 15 lb cat, who does just seem to have a large bladder.
Just here to give an updated review! First let me say that there's way too many people giving reviews that not only sound uneducated but LOOK uneducated. Please read instructions & place pad with the side that feels sort of like cloth facing upward. That's the part your pup pees on. I haven't laughed as hard as I did today when looking at a video review of a person who said these are horrible & they don't work & she brought the camera close to the pad.....OF COURSE IT DOESN'T WORK because you have it laid out THE WRONG WAY😂‼ If you don't know how to use the product than don't come on here giving horrible reviews & scaring potential buyers away. I have an American Pitbull Terrier mix. He isn't even fully grown & is already 63 lbs. He uses these daily & that of course is due to my physical limitations because I am wheelchair bound.
Anyway these are actually pretty good. I have bought them about 18-20 times already from different sellers. Never went back to those nasty white ones after I used these. The only reason I took a star is because one time I must have received a defective pack of pads that kept leaking through so I spoke to Customer service & they told me the seller was notified & they'd email me but that never happened. Sadly I can't say anything good about the seller directly but as far as these pads, they're a God send. I am so thankful that I have learned to take chances & be my own judge. If I had seen that one review before where the lady has the pad backwards saying its slippery & doesn't absorb plus all those other bad reviews then I'd just be super embarrassed after finding out its NOT AT ALL what she said. I wish there was a way to tell her to delete that video because I just know that anyone that knows about these pads knows she had the pad backwards. Remember....if you aren't really sure how to use a product then don't scare away dog parents with absurd reviews :)
