Had the most beautiful bowel movement of my life into one of these bags! I was in the Big Horn Mountains of Wyoming. There were wildflowers in full bloom all around, and I had an incredible view down the valley. I dropped my pants and and put my behind into a kitchen sized trash bag and dropped that load. I wiped myself with included toilet paper and a wet one to ensure a clean back side. I then stuffed the trash bag full of digested trail food into the included zip top bag. Packed out that bag-o-poo without smelling it the next day.
Sh*tting in the woods is never super enjoyable but these make it a little less difficult. Much better than the blue bag system as these prevent direct contact with the environment and are opaque. One caveat--the amount of included TP is laughable, be sure to take a backup roll or you'll come up short.
Our boat does not have a toilet so this worked well for days out on the water. I just put them inside a 5 gallon bucket with a toilet seat lid. Others in the Q&A responded that you can use each bag multiple times. Which given the duration of our trip and only having the 6-pack, I did use each bag multiple times. I would say 2 times is the limit and even then, be aware that the contents are no longer solid. The bags are strong, and I didn't experience any odors. I wish they were not as expensive per bag.
I used these for a trip in Zion national park this spring and had the unfortunate need to use one on my 3rd day on a through hike in the park. This was my first time needing to use a bag of this sort, as I am used to just digging holes on these sorts of trips should the need arise. All I can say is that it was easy enough to use but not odor proof. I had to have that smell strapped to my back. Being chased by flies and that smell as I descended into the most traveled part of the park. Not a great experience. Luckily nothing leaked but the smell, and the bag was sealed after checking multiple times.
I love this system and have the toilet they make. What I didn’t like is the outer bag with the seal was so small! This means each bag pack was only good for one use. That’s expensive! Last time I bought these, the outer bag (the one that seals) was quite large. That meant the inner bag was good for multiple uses (once the inner bag was opened and placed inside the toilet.). Once a day, I would gather it up, tie it, and place it in the large outer bag that seals. This time, I could only use the inner bag once - or it wouldn’t fit into the outer sealing bag!
I used these on a recent snow camping trip and they worked very well. I was able to make use of my bag a couple of times and it still fit well within the outer zip-close bag, while still being nice and compact. Other wag bags I've used had a shiny, mylar outer bag, and that's a problem because the shiny material attracts the interest of ravens (last year we came back to camp to find that ravens had strewn our waste across the snow). These are a nice, nondescript grey on the outside and the birds leave them alone. My only complaint is the tiny amount of TP and pathetically small wet wipe that fell apart when I tried to use it. In the interest of camp hygiene, pack extra TP and wet wipes!
These work great and I like that you get a complete cleaning package with it them as well. Go well with the portable toilets and they are quick and efficient. Double bagging so you don't have any surprises and it's simple to use. Used these on a trip to Moab where you may not always have access to bathrooms and with a good portable toilet, these did the trick and I liked the extra bagging since I'm packing this stuff out in my external trash bag on the Jeep.
Thickness of the waste collection bag and zip-close disposal bag are good.. However, I was the only person to use the poo kit for my new camp trip "outhouse". After urinating 4 or 5 times the biodegradable powder that converts urine to gel stopped working and the disposal bag was filled with urine - no gel - just urine. For instance, I replaced a poo bag about 5:00 PM and by 10:00 PM the gel was gone and only liquid remained.
Oh, yes.... well what can one say about waste bags?? They do/finish the job! We have used this product for over a decade when camping/rafting. The product comes complete with everything you need to bag up your waste.
