To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
I bought these strings to replace the ones that the violin came with. The original strings on the violin in question lasted several months before finally snapping during a tuning: These ones lasted ten minutes.
After my order arrived, I swapped the old strings out for these ones. In the process of tuning it, the A string (labeled as the 3rd string) shredded - not snapped, shredded - immediately. As in, up around the tuning pegs, the core and winding separated, resulting in immediate slack in the string. The winding remained attached to the tuning pegs, but the core did not, and as a result, the string quickly unraveled.
At first, I assumed it was human error: Stuff happens, and I have two more A strings, so no big deal. So I opened another pack and replaced the broken string. Five minutes later, during tuning, the exact same failure happened again. I got the third string installed and tuned successfully, but that was only a half hour ago, and I'm now leery of it.
