As advertised, this is a collection of 60 Howlin' Wolf songs spread over three discs. Each disc is structured to lead off with an entire album (Moanin' in the Moonlight, Howlin' Wolf Sings the Blues, and the Rocking Chair album) and is then filled out with singles. The sound quality is mostly okay and varies from song to song. Some songs do not have the best sound quality and can come across as fuzzy (I chalk that up to the 50's recording technology). Many of the songs (especially the really famous ones) have excellent quality and are clear and clean.
The packaging is really nice. It's a quadra-fold type cardboard package with individual plastic holders for each CD, so it's easy to take the discs out and out them back. The pictures and graphic design are great, and the set includes a booklet that gives background information and some evaluation of the life and works of Howlin' Wolf.
One complaint I have about the album is it doesn't cover the Wolf's full career. Instead, it covers a period from 1951 to maybe 1962 or 1963. As a result, it leaves out Killing Floor and some other late career hits. Otherwise it's an excellent set.
