Normally a fun game with tons of quests, dungeons, trials, and player interactions, but the entire Elder Scrolls Online series is riddled with bugs and glitches, insane load times between areas, and less than responsive technical support. The latest patch on June 8, 2020 broke the thieving fencing ability which is easiest way to gain much needed gold, caused crashes during combat, even longer load times, and frequent pauses in screen actions. It appears the patch was for them to sell Greymoor expansion which has great graphics, but the bugs it caused in game are extremely frustrating. If I didn't have a year invested in the game I would say avoid at all cost. That said, it has kept me entertained, though frustrated, for a year.
I played the original on PC, and the game mechanics were not like any other elder scrolls game. The character abilities and skills such as sneak are leveled up differently than they would normally be. Which means you can't sneak around places and expect your character to increase in that skill. Another issue I had was crafting items in general. You can't craft armor or weapons as easily as you could in previous games. That was really irritating. The only way to get great armor or other equipment is to either find it throughout the game or try to find ALL the materials needed to craft the item you want. Another reason why I have this game the low rating is because like I mentioned before about the game mechanics; the crime system is annoying. Stealing, attacking or killing of course gets you a bounty. In this game it's the same except that bounty is counted against you wherever you go until the time runs out or if you get caught by a guard. The problem with the guards is that you can't kill them. So you have to be fast and lucky enough to out run the guards. The last thing a I hate about this game is the fact that you have to rely on others to help you beat missions and bosses. You can't do it yourself that easy. I truly believe that they could have done a better job making this game if they didnt change a lot of the game mechanics.
Two stars may seem harsh, but the company advertised this as the online game that could be played without interacting with other indivduals. That is just not the case. Five minutes into the game, and wearing the slaver rags on my back, some level 20 something waltzes through, immediately all the surrounding enemies bump to his level and focus on me. Not a tad like Skyrim, and the graphics, utterly pathetic. Thank you amazon, for allowing me to return this wrecthed joke of a game.
First, I should have read and understood the write-up in it's entirety and I should not have pre-ordered so I would have had a chance to read the reviews. That is on me.
I am a huge fan of Bethesda games, but I am extremely disappointed in this release. Again, I should have understood this was built on something I was unaware of. I made the point of purchasing the disc instead of the digital edition since I don't play "online". I like to throw in the disc and play without worrying about an internet connection. However, Iike others with a crappy internet connection, it took a good 24 hours to download a 73GB file and install... what was the purpose of the disc? I was looking forward to playing once it hit my doorstep... that didn't happen. Then to find out, there are in game purchases and other players running all over the place; very annoying when you just want to play alone. It disappoints me that Bethesda is joining the cell phone game craze with in app purchases; isn't it enough to charge $60+ for games and then more for add ons or Gold Editions? It might be my imagination, but I believe that a game that could have had awesome graphics was sacraficed to enable multiplayers; the graphics were no better and maybe slightly worse than Skyrim.
I am sick of subscriptions. I don't want to pay for this game for the rest of my life. You can not play the game AT ALL without Xbox Gold. You MUST play Multiplayer apparently. I don't want to do that. I did not see anything about that in the ads. Maybe I missed the fine print. I feel ripped off...
