I'm not an electrician, so I don't know if this is by design or a flaw, but the cutters do not have a spring which automatically opens the stripper after squeezing the handle. So after squeezing the strippers, you must manually open them again, which is a bit annoying.
Also, the various wire gauge openings are somewhat close together, which makes the "Gauge Number" stamp slightly misaligned with the actual cutting gauge slot. You will need to use these in a brightly lit area.
Other than that, they are a multi function tool which performs well in a home setting. Not professional grade, but for the price, they are worth it.
Great tool to do what it is designed to do. For myself whom has small hands I find the handles too far apart and hard for me to use for long periods to open and close them. I do lots of electrical work and this is key for me to adopt the tool and use it regularly.
The range of AWG sizes is a big plus with these. I move around a lot on the jobsite and I could be doing receptacles one day, security card readers another, and branch wiring the next. I've already put the crimps to good use. I haven't tried the machine screw cutters yet but it is just one more convenience to have on a set of strippers.
Very happy with this item. Lost my other wire cutters and had no idea how garbage they were compared to there. Select your wire size, squeeze, and you get a wire cut that looks just like the wires on the inside of your new light fixture!
