Solid little grill, great for cooking steaks over coals or roasting veggies over fire. Slightly bigger than opened hand. Cleans easily with wayer and a rag. Comes with water proof bag so item wont rust inbetween uses as long as you keep it dry in bag. Quite lightweight yet solid enough to do task.
I was really susprised to see the size of the product when I received it but I was amazed by the quality of the fabrication. Practical and easy to store in a backpack because of its small size and very functional! The little pouch that comes with makes life easier if you have store the grill in your bag. I've took a picture of it beside a Excel Gum pack to give you an idea of the size, i might buy a second one, hope it help!
The listing says 113g, package says 128g, and my scale reads 163g. My scale is accurate because it measures the carrying bag accurately (10g) along with others. This is very misleading. I would have looked around more for lighter solution had I known it was 50g or 44% heavier than listed.
Finally had a chance to use this and am very happy with it. Great size to put in the backpack for both day hikes, and longer hiking/camping trips. Supports all the weight I'd ever think of putting on a grill in those situations. Really happy with it. I like that it comes with a bag, which just keeps the grill, which tends to get dirty just being a grill, sealed and away from everything else in my pack. Best camping grill on the market in my opinion.
Just received this, already have a small grill with fold out legs and wanted to try another one. Plus this ones comes with the carry bag which I like. Will be using it next week in Algonquin Park. Upon initial inspection, it looks to be very good quality, strong and sturdy, good quality welds, I am sure this will hold up great for cooking over the fire. Will easily hold six sausages or 2 good size burgers. for 20 bucks even if it last a few years I will consider to have gotten my monies worth, but I think it will last many more than that. ~ Andrew @ Outbound2Explore
Year later update. After dozens of campfire cooks it still looks brand new. As mentioned above, very good quality construction, but it is not huge (like the pictures make it seem) 6 juicy jumbo's and the grill is full. But it is all you need for two people. I am now going to order a second one.
I like it but the grill tips (the edges of the grill wires where welded onto the frame) were very sharp and would catch the material of the storage bag. 5 minutes with a file to smooth them all down and now it's perfect, that's the only thing that kept it from 5-stars. Seems to be good quality welding, have used it a couple times in the campfire and works well. Perfect size for backpacking.
** Minus 2 stars because of the Price** At the time of this review their selling 44$ each and 4months ago when i bought two they were $17.97each! 140% increase is Nuts.
As for the Grills: Very well made. Could use a slight file on a few sharp edges. Very durable little things. I bought 2 to set side by side for any camping i do with others. 1 grill will work for 1-2 people depending on what you're cooking, but this is a highly durable very light weight grill. Perfect for most ultra-light campers who dont want to worry about breaking gear.
I highly recomend this grill, or even 2 of them. With a couple stainless keyrings, or other method to attach them together their Awesome for lightweight group camping! **But I'm going to have to hold off buying more until the price comes back doen to a reasonable amount.**
First, keep in mind that it's not the weight that interests me. So I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the grill, even the packaging deserves a mention. I saved 5% when buying, but after seeing the quality, I would not be embarrassed to pay the full price. Robust, effective, made in the United States, nothing to add. Obviously, this is not the ideal item if you are looking for ultra-light equipment or if you are camping with your family which involves big meals. Otherwise and considering the price, unless you opt for titanium, this item is probably the best option.
When I 1st received this grill I thought it was some kind of joke cause it was so small. But after checking it out i realized this thing is well made. Then I took it camping in the kawartha highland provincial park. This little thing was awesome. It will probably last forever. Note that you can only fit 2 hamburgers.
