One of my white v-necks – which I had owned for years – was pilled at stained. When bleach could no longer guarantee me at least a stain-free shirt, I realized that it was time to replace it. I wanted something a bit more upscale than whatever Chinese mass manufacturer I had bought my previous shirt from, but I had a hard time justifying spending $20 for a shirt that is not much more complicated two pieces of cloth sewn together. This item from Goodthreads seemed to hit a sweet spot.
PROS - Good material - Adequately assembled - The neckline does not swoop down
The tag says that the shirt is 100% cotton, but it is surprisingly stretchy. I do not recall my other shirts being quite so pliable, but I am not complaining. The fibers are smooth and the fabric breaths well, which is perfect for looking good even in blazing Hawaii weather. After the first wash, there were a couple loose strings, but the seams look to be of reasonable quality and I do not except them to unravel or for more strings to come apart.
However, what I most appreciate about the shirt is that the neckline does not plunge downwards, which seems to be an increasingly popular style these days. I want to see my collar bones, not my chest hair. If you are looking for something more revealing, this is not your shirt.
CONS - None
I have nothing bad to say about this shirt yet.
CONSIDERATIONS - Seems to run on the small side - Uncertain longevity
The one thing that you should note is that this shirt runs rather small. I ordered a medium, but it feels close to a small. I prefer a looser fit, so I think I might order a size up next time. However, if you enjoy tops that hug you a bit more, this is up your alley.
The shirt was $12, so I am not expecting it to become a family heirloom. However, I am curious to know how well it will hold up as the washes accumulate. I will update this review as necessary, but – at the time of this writing – I would encourage anyone to buy it.
Comparing this to the J. Crew v neck I have, it is longer and tighter in the arms and longer and tighter in the body.. Not by too much, but a little is a lot when you barely fit in one. The material is not as soft as the J. Crew either. I'm determined by mediums for now on. I'm in denial I guess.
I bought a large and I loved the material but the chest fit very strange (super tight but torso feel was good) and I had a feeling it was going to shrink. So, I got some XL and after a wash to get the shrink out of the way, the chest fit great but one thing was the length only hit my belt. Still a decent shirt, just fits awkward for my body type.
I ordered 2XXL size and what I received has a tag that says it is 2XXL but I doubt that this t shirt would fit an 8 year old boy.
It is EXTREMELY undersized. I am 6'1" and 200 lbs, and this t-shirt is so small I couldn't even get it on. Ridiculous sizing. I will NEVER order clothes on Amazon again. whoever labeled this as 2XXL needs to find another job, one where eyesight isn't needed, and one where common sense isn't needed. Maybe get a job watching paint dry.
When I first found these shirts in 2017 I fell in love with the quality. I still have and wear those first good threads t shirts from 2017 and they still look great! No holes or noticeable wear, even after god knows how many washes.
That being said the last few shirts I've order from Goodthreads have developed holes after only a few months!
I don't think these are the same shirts they used to be.
This is not what you want by any means. I ordered a "Denim Blue" and a "Green" shirt, and they came in much darker than the picture. Picture makes shirt appear like washed denim blue and green, it's not. Also, extremely thin fabric, poorly constructed, and FAR smaller than the sizes you get when you buy from DXL I ordered an XXXL TALL, and it didn't make it far enough down to tuck in the front. DXL of the same size has shirts that go below my shorts. Be prepared to return item.
I bought this V neck T-shirt and a comfort colors crew collar T-shirt at the same time. The die job is even. The shirt itself is a much lighter weight cotton than the comfort cotton shirt. I bought 2xl in both shirts. This shirt was smaller than the comfort color. I prefer the weight of the comfort color shirt, but preferred this neckline.
