Okay this review is coming at a weird time. The 3ds hasn't been relevant for a couple of years but this coronavirus lockdown caused me to pick mine up again out of boredom and decide to buy a new game and this game is absolutely perfect for the lockdown! You play a fun quest and get to cast all the characters as Miis of your choice, meaning you can go on your adventure with all the friends you can't see at the moment, or you can choose funny miis like casting the grinch as a beautiful young woman (you can get miis from online to use as well as from your own library). So far I absolutely love the game, and it's so funny watching my friends' miis interact in quirky ways and wear silly costumes as mages or thieves. I think this game would suit children very well too as it is very family friendly and is not especially challenging, the battles remind me a lot of pokemon so I would imagine pokemon fans would enjoy this a lot.
Miitopia is a fun, humorous, and great role-playing game. You can create yourself and your own companions, and a whole cast of characters! You can also import your Miis from Tomodachi Life.
Played through the whole game in about 40 hours. There's also post-game activities after the final boss! You can continue gaining levels, creating characters, exploring new places, and trying to get all the achievements. But Miitopia was so entertaining that I've reset all my save data so my younger brother could play through the story as well. It's a shame that this game doesn't have multiple save slots, which would have been very useful!
Sometimes you just want a break from the kids, am I right? This game kept one of the younger kids occupied for a while and was a friendly, non-violent, non political, without an agenda type game, which is harder and harder to find these days.
It is a lovely game, very good graphics. Sometimes it can become repetitive but it does keep you occupied for many hours. I've finished the main game itself however it is very charming and I'm just coming back to it. The best advice I can give is just try it for yourself. Have fun.
