This is a great case! It feels really sturdy and makes the switch more comfortable to hold, and removes the problem of the joycons wobbling slightly when connected to the actual tablet, this was one of the main reasons why I got it so I could combat that problem and this case does a great job of that. The case also seems like it’ll protect it from dropping even though I haven’t dropped mine yet, it is made from a hard rubber like material which feels like it’ll soak up the impact of a drop more than it would send the impact through the entire case like a hard plastic case would. The reason why I haven’t rated it 5 stars is that there are a couple trade-offs that I wasn’t prepared to enter into. First let me just confirm that when the case is on the switch, it will not fit into the dock. This was something I was aware of before I bought it so I’m not critiquing that. The problem is that removal is pretty difficult to do safely. As I tried to remove the case I could feel the joy cons bending at the hinge which made me feel very uncomfortable and I was following the instructions for removal very carefully and even then stress was being put on the joycon. The first removal was fine, no significant damage, but my worry is that continuous stress on the rail where the joycon slides into will cause it to come off after a while. So in my opinion this case is not safe for those who want to remove it to dock and/or to make use of the joycons as I believe that multiple removals will eventually cause damage. This is where the trade-off is made, you’re going to have to decide for yourself whether or not being able to play on the tv or using the joycons is important to you, if it is then I honestly wouldn’t recommend this case, but if it isn’t then there is not better alternative. This really is a very sturdy case which feels like it’ll survive drop after drop. There’s nothing as sturdy as this.
Pros: most sturdy case I’ve seen yet, quite comfortable in the hands, quite nice looking.
Cons: not easy to remove like some reviewers are saying, at least not easy to remove safely. Does not fit into the dock.
The case did very well - it handled travel to a foreign country, being bounced and dropped by the kids over and over, and being stuffed into backpacks and other carrying cases for a month. The switch has no scratches on anything covered by the case and nothing was damaged - it's perfectly usable and everything works like a charm since we got home. If you need a case and are used to (and like) OtterBox Defender phone cases like I do, then you'll probably like this case.
