To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
I had these about a week now, & I can’t get them to work for me, I tightened the low e string locking screw that tight that it almost broke through the string & still it didn't lock it. I play slinky 9’s so I thought the thinner strings might be tricky but I didn’t expect problems with the thickest. Not good at all. I think it’s rubbish that we have to put 1star to progress the review. No stars is what I would have scored
I really hate to rate products 1 Star, but these tuners deserve it. The higher strings will still slip on occasion and I've broken several high strings at the peg. The metal is soft and the stress of holding the strings tight create a groove at the edge of the peg. Adjusting your tuning will rub the string against the groove and break them at the peg.
Save your money and invest in higher quality tuners like the Planet Waves, Gotoh, and Grovers.
I picked up these tuners as a cheap little upgrade to the stock tuners I have on my squier, ever since I installed them they've been breaking every single set of strings I throw on them, from Ernie balls to Elixers it just snaps them. They've broken 5 sets of strings already and I've taken them off and put the original squire tuners back on! Terrible tuners, you'd be better off with anything else.
Parts weren’t properly machined. Washers didn’t fit over the tuning pegs like they’re supposed to. I had to drill them out to get them to fit. Also one of the retaining nuts didn’t fit over the tuning pegs which necessitated grinding down the peg. So an installation that should’ve taken ten minutes instead took over an hour. Even after all that when they were finally installed i was disappointed in the quality. They’re incredibly inconsistent, some tuners are extremely loose and others offer way too much resistance, making tuning a frustrating affair. They also don’t hold tuning very well. Honestly the only feature that works well is the locking feature. I know these are cheap import tuners with pretty lenient quality control but I’m disappointed overall. Even at this cheap price the set I got wasn’t worth it.
I bought these for a squier tele. They didn’t fit so I had to drill the holes a couple mill larger. Then I strung the strings straight through and locked them in. Started tuning the strings to pitch and pop! High e gone. Then the b, pop! So the break angle on the pole was so sharp it cut the string. So a little filling with a tiny file the strings hold. Oh and I have to wrap the strings at least once just for friction grip making the purpose of locking tuners obsolete
