I had hard time getting it on the ceiling joist, first of all, not all 4 screws can make it in my ceiling joist width, only three can go. Then, it was so hard to screw it in, I just got exhausted trying different things. Screws are really low quality, chips away as it becomes harder. In some sense you want it to be harder as it is question of holding up when somebody sits (I used it for a hanging chair), but to get to that it just drained my energy and took 2-3 days of effort. Not sure how they can make it simple, probably better screw quality or nut type of thing that can hold better under stress may be good.
I installed this into studs in the wall, and it feels really sturdy. I am a fairly large individual and when I slept in the hammock the first night it felt secure and I never felt like it was going to come off of the wall. However, the quality of the screws included I am not 100% sure on. One of the screws upon screwing into the pre-drilled hole got almost all the way in then snapped a good half inch from the top of the screw. 1 star docked for screw breaking, 1 star docked for the carabiners not being large enough for the hammock and having to buy another piece to connect the hammock to the carabiners.
I purchase this item for my indoor hammock hanging. the mount itself is super heavy-duty, but the spacing of the screw was not well throughout. the most house has 2x3 which the two side mount are just little too wide and you have to shift the mount so one side doesn't have any solid wood to screw into. just some notes for your consideration when you purchase this product.
I used this to hang a hammock on our deck and like the low profile design—it doesn't stick out a bunch when the hammock is taken down. But the carabiners are very difficult to get over the fat ropes at the ends of my hammock, and despite pre-drilling the holes the screws stripped easily. Looks like we won't be removing this anytime soon.
These hooks are holding up well. I had to install them using different screws because the wood I was screwing into was so hard that the head was stripping out. Otherwise, my hanging chair looks great in my living room!
