I would describe my eye shape as nothing exceptional. Not huge, not tiny. But, this curler is huge on my face. It's so wide that it pinches me on the inside of the bridge of my nose. I've got average features in terms of proportion, so it's super annoying that this curler is almost impossible for me to use. My lashes are a bit shorter than average, so I do need to get the curler very close to my eye to curl the lashes, but still, it shouldn't be pinching my face. I'll give it a star for the nice rose gold color, and a star for the fact that it does it's job to curl, but it's not worth more stars to me. I don't know why people love it. It's no better than what I could but at a drugstore, but those don't pinch me.
I would imagine this would be a nice eyelash curler but I didnt want to try it because there was a hair piece sticking out of the rubber pad. And no it wasnt my hair because it was literally stuck under the pad so I couldnt just brush it off... and the pad also had tiny particles on it that made it looked like it was used. I dont know about you but I would want to something near my eyes thats been used on someone elses, thats asking for an infection! Yes I can replace the pad but the seller shouldnt have sent me a used eyelash curler, and for that reason I can’t give it more than a 2 star..
Liked the price. My shu uemura eye lash curler needed to be replaced and I thought based on the reviews, I'd try a cheaper product with such high reviews. Then add in, a little card saying "FREE OF CHARGE, extra pads!"
Didn't like that it doesn't really work as well as my other curler--it doesn't seem to grab my eyelashes. Don't like that it often pinched the corners of my eyes in the way that my other curler didn't
Wasn't going to write a review at all until I sent an email asking for my free pads and thus found out why the product has so many high reviews. Your free bonus pads only come if you promise to write a 5 star review. I love supporting small businesses, but I'm tired of shady reviews in exchange for something free (whether for a "beauty influencer" or just someone writing a review they may not really believe. Small business or not, this makes for skewed reviews and it's not worth the free pads.
I bought this curler because I now need a “shallower” (or less circular shaped) curler due to the shortening of my eyelashes as I’ve aged. Ive always used a plain old Revlon one and it worked fine. However, after I turned 50, it became too deep (due to its higher degree of curvature) to use and couldn’t reach my center eyelashes anymore. Grrrrr. Upon researching curlers for short lashes, I found it was advised to purchase one that was recommended for with Asian eyes. Brilliant Beauty came recommended. HOWEVER, it’s CURVATURE IS NO SHALLOWER than my old Revlon one. In addition, the silicone pad is not nearly as supple and “giving” as the old RUBBER pads that USED to come in ALL curlers in the “olden days”. Therefore, the silicone doesn’t allow for the extent of crimping (thus staying power for straight lashes) as the old rubber pads did. Idk why rubber was replaced with silicone; less expensive, or possibly due to developing latex rubber allergies??? Whatever the reason, I wish rubber pads were available. This curler would probably be fine for those with youthful and long lashes, but for shorter lashes it’s almost ineffective (except just slightly crimping the extreme outer & inner lashes). Since my Revlon is probably 15+ years old, I’ll just keep this one. Oh...to be young again! Lol. 😏
I’ve tried $5 Revlon curlers that do a better job. This only “wows” on a first use basis, 2nd, 3rd time ok and after, just disappoints. Doesn’t help hold a curl at all even though the pad is fairly new (only a few uses). Bought this because my usual $20 one was taking too long to ship and usual drugstore ones were not easy to get to due to the lockdown. It comes with a cheap satin like bag to store it but I’ve never used it and actually threw it out. This is disappointing to say the least but if you’re in a rush and have next day shipping with Prime, then by all means get it. Otherwise, just buy your usual or keep looking. The first try is amazing but every time after is just terrible.
I'll admit, part of the appeal of this product is the appearance of it. Who doesn't love rose gold in a satin bag? And it does look good sitting on my make-up table. However...this is, hands down, the most uncomfortable eyelash curler I have ever used. I don't seem to be able to use it without gouging my cheek and when I do manage to get it positioned, it pinches to the point that my eyes tear, mucking up everything. I plan to purchase a replacement for my old stand-by from Revlon and consider this a reminder that beauty is only skin deep.
I don’t know how this is ‘Award Winning’. I found a better one at the dollar store that actually curls my lashes. The first thing I noticed was how uncomfortable it was to hold and squeeze, which I realize is a odd thing to say. I didn’t realize this was even a thing until I tried this one and found it off. I wanted to like this and maybe it is just my lashes, but it didn’t curl at all. I even tried blow drying the curler a bit to warm it up, which always works for others I’ve had. It barely curled and then uncurled the second I put mascara on. Maybe I need to use it more and if I find it works better then I’ll re-review it again. The 2-3 stars were because I did however notice that when I curled my lashes, it curled them the same and grouped them together. I find with my long lashes that when I curl them with other curlers that some with curl really well and the lashes towards the side of my face, not so much. So with this, it was nice that it grouped it together more. Just wish it would of ‘curled’ my lashes with it being a eyelash curler....
I'm 51 years old and have never used an eyelash curler in my life. Since lashes are getting a little skimpier I thought I would try curling them before mascara. I had no idea that they came in slightly different sizes and shapes. I have almond shaped, slightly deep set eyes and high cheek bones. No matter what angle or position I approached from, I could not even get this lash curler near my lash line, its too big and gets stopped by the bone structure around my eyes. The best I could do after many attempts was to get the tip of a couple center lashes in the curler, that was it. Needless to say I cannot use it and am glad I did not spend a lot. I will now research which curlers are best for my size and shape eyes. It would be helpful if this company added something in their description which size and shape eyes this product works best for.
While this curler is very pretty aesthetically, I found that it gave little to no curl to my lashes. I think it might be because the top piece of metal that your lashes are supposed to get the curl from may be a fraction too thick, making the crimp when you press down too shallow and unable to curl as well as it would if the metal was thinner. Like some other reviews say, i did find the tapering of the holes for your fingers to be too small and the tear drop shape irritating as well, as your fingers tend to push up into that little V as you use the curler which pinches your fingers the longer you use it. Very disappointed in this. It was so pretty too :(
The color might be the best part of this curler. It comes in a cute little carry bag, and the color is great, however, as you can see in the photos it doesn't close evenly. The left side closes quicker than the right. And it also came chipped in the top. You can see green material underneath the rose gold color. Honestly I could've found a better product at a drugstore.
