I'm a lefty. I know you right-handed people won't understand or believe this but it's a right-handed world. While you probably know about the scissors thing, there's also a phone cord issue. Phone cords curl in a way that makes them stay normal for right-handed people and turn into a snarled tangle for lefties. On a monthly basis I was stealing phone cords from vacant desks in my office and leaving knotty remains in their place. I was positive this device was going to be a waste of money but I was running out of vacant desks to pilfer. I could not be more pleased with this purchase. My phone cord is pristine and I no longer need a constant flow of replacement cords. Thank you.
Update: While they work great keeping the phone cord from getting tangled they don't last very long. I've gone through a half a dozen of them since I first bought them. The last pair showed up and one was defective out of the gate and the other lasted about six weeks. I've had to cut my stars from 5 to 2 because they're expensive/not worth it if I have to buy them every six weeks.
Does it affect the sound quality of your telephone calls? Yes.
Holy crap. Look - the price is right and it does keep your cord untangled. But, it makes the sound crackle and snap whenever the part turns even slightly during a phone conversation, so it sounds like you are speaking to somebody next to an antenna TV that is cutting in and out with static because your roommate is trying to make a frozen margarita with a crappy blender in the kitchen and the wiring in your house isn't "quite right," and, oh; there is a gigantic lightning storm outside and the tree in your front yard got zapped. On BOTH ends - both you AND the person you are talking to can enjoy this lovely, high-fidelity static.
I bought these because my landline cord on my phone was always twisting up. So I bought these. Sadly they loose connection when you are on the phone. When they rotate it causing them to crackle and lose connection. Sorry I would have love to really like these but I don't think the rotation of the cord is an easy fix or engineering it. I hope I am wrong. If they do come out with one that doesn't crackle when it twists I will be the first in line for them, if the landline phone will even exist by then.
Both detanglers I purchased introduced static noise into the handset. I threw them out.
Update: I purchased these on March 23, 2019. When I first posted this negative review, the seller contacted me and refunded my purchase price, without asking that I return the items. The seller did ask that I delete or edit my review, so I am. I will raise my one star review to two stars based on the seller's refund. But, the item still failed within six months of purchase, so I don't see how I could recommend it.
For anyone that uses these on their office phones to keep the cords from tangling knows how great they can be. The overall problem with any brand of these cord detanglers is how long you can use them before they start going bad. You know when they start going bad because you get a lot of static on the line when you answer the phone. I had high hopes for these because they were a good price and I really thought if they lasted six months they would be worth the money. Unfortunately they only lasted one month before the static started up. I am disappointed. If you just want them on a phone that gets only a little use than they will last longer. I guess you really do get what you pay for.
"Ordered on February 26, 2020" ... Now 10/01/2020 ad both pieces are 100% unreliable, they cut out constantly and when they are working there is a scratchy interference noise happening with any movement of the handset, my hand, reaching to grab a paper/pen etc. Would recommend if willing to re-buy every 6 months? Otherwise I would skip these.
