A little bit of maneuvering to get her into the bag. Once in and pass we’re popped out she had no issue. I just hung her on the bath towel hook and then I was about a 5 minute trim. Worked surprisingly well.
I've been clipping animal nails for years, but our most recent rescue (a 10 month old kitten) was more challenging than most! Tired of the fighting and inevitable scratches, I ordered this and truly expected to be sending it back. I could not have been more wrong! I tossed it on the couch and Rocket immediately jumped up to investigate. I grabbed him and it took a bit of manipulating to get him in the bag, but once in he seemed to mostly settle down. This was the easiest clipping of nails I've ever done!
Some of the reviews I believe mentioned concerns about the "mesh" areas. This mesh is actually a pretty heavy duty rubbery plastic material, not fabric. It held up well for me and I was glad to know there was adequate air circulation.
Worked amazingly! Only regret is not getting a larger one. She’s not a big cat and she JUST got in a large. Order up! Otherwise this thing is amazing! Gracie FROZE while in it. It was seriously super easy to use. Def 2 person job to get her in it and after reading other reviews I put the neck/collar thing around first and that was the best advice. Get collar part secured first!!! Buy this!!!! Took less than a min to clip all four paws!
Fits my Sky perfectly. I use it for trimming nails, putting in nail caps, and brushing her teeth. It keeps her calm and prevents her from squirming around too much....Great for visits to the vet as well!
I have tried many other, different designs of cat restraints for trimming their claws. This grooming bag is a clear winner. It has made the job safe, and almost free of trauma for the cats. :-) Of course the cats still complain a little, but we can now get through the trimmings with no injury to my hands and arms.
Getting the cats into the bag is fairly easy, with practice. I have found that you first need to secure the neck strap after you place the cat into the open bag. After the neck strap is secured (but not TOO tight, please!) the back zipper can be closed. The cat is then incapable of either flight or scratching you.
Now, you can open the four leg openings one at a time, and gently pull the cat's leg through the opening. Of course the cat might complain and squirm a bit, but will still be unable to get away.
Our cats now have regularly-trimmed claws, and we are happy with the process.
This grooming bag works very well as a cat carrier. It did take two people to get my cats into this bag (not both at the same time). But the zipper, that runs the length of the top to the collar, helps by opening up the bag. You don't have to try to pull a bag over the cat's head. You just have to put the cat into the open bag and hold on while someone else Velcros the bag closed and pulls up the zipper and closes the Velcro collar. The collar has to be very firmly closed, if the cat can get a paw out through the collar she can pull open the velcro and escape. The cats did not actually enjoy this carrier. But they didn't struggle much. I think having their heads free does make them feel a bit better. I think my cats are normal sized, not huge, not tiny, the Medium size bag is a good fit for both of them.
This is incredible. My tiny dog fights like a demon when I try to clip his nails. I've had friends and family come over to hold him while I clip, to no avail. I tried sedatives. I even tried making my own bag to stick him in. His nails, grown so long, were starting to hurt his paws to the point of him chewing his feet. I gave in and bought this for him and had his nails trimmed in about five minutes. He still tried to fight, but the velcro and zippers kept him from pulling his limbs back. This is 100% worth the money.
Well we received this yesterday and used it today. First time ever we got to trim all nails at the same time. Fit was pretty good we have a 15 lb cat and we ordered the medium size. Was snug but good. Little extra room in length. No bites or scratches! Not that he is bad just likes to play. There was no need to hang because there was two of us and the cat just went docile.
This works great for us. We have two cats, a large Munchkin with 3 inch long legs, and an even larger Savannah who is built like a Cheetah. They both hate to have their nails trimmed and we were paying a groomer $30 a month. We open the bag and lay it on the floor and set the cat down on the open bag. We then fasten the velcro around the neck and zip the back. For the Savannah, we open the front leg openings before setting him on the bag. His legs are too long to fit in the bag all at once.
They growl a little once in the bag but it is easy to cut their nail at that point and it only takes a few minutes. Strongly advise using a face mask after getting them in the bag as it will help calm them..
I bought this for my two Italian greyhounds who are prepared to fight to the death every time they need their nails clipped. I put them in this and they become submissive zombies. My husband holds it up by the handle and I clip and file their nails in 5 minutes. I am way less likely to snip too far and hurt them now. Worth the money.
