I work at home and at work now. I bought these thinking they would be the same quality as the ones I have at work. I purchased the ones at work 6 years ago they are still perfect. The cutting edge STILL meets 100%. Those are Xcelite 54. The part number has since changed to this part number. Only about 1/3rd of the cutting edge at the end meets. The new plastic handle covering is trashy feeling compared to the original. For what I bought them for they will work fine. They are still better than the Husky and Craftsman I own. Just disappointing whats happened here in America. FYI: I just got a new diag pair with a full set of Husky pliers. None of the Huskies meet anywhere. So I guess these are great. LOL. Updated: Tried to cut string a sting tag; it only cuts it if it is at the tip.

I am familiar with the Weller brand for soldering irons, but wasn't aware that they made other tools.
These little wire snippers are great for smaller wires (double digit gauge at least). There's a nice spring to hold the snippers open, and a positive stop preventing them from opening too far. The handles are comfortable in your hand, and the rubber coating has good grip. Surprisingly, the package says they are not electrically insulated. They cut cleanly through solid and stranded wire, as well as the insulation. They are stamped ESD safe, which is great if you are using them with precision electronics.
Pricing is in line with similar products from big box hardware stores.
My sample isn't exactly as pictured. There isn't a screw visible in the hinge. The grips are more of a baby blue color, compared to the slightly green that is shown. I don't think either of these product changes are critical.
These cutters will make a fine addition to my tool chest, and I will watch for other Weller hand tools when purchasing in the future.
5.0 out of 5 starsSmall Snips that Work Well in Tight Quarters

I do a lot with cabling and wiring in my job so I work a bit with different cutting tools to that end. I am familiar with Xcelite tools as there’s a good collection of them in the workplace; this was the first brand-new set of cutters I have used. In a nutshell, these are excellent and I am pleased with them.
This is a small set of snips, suitable for cutting very small wires though they work fine on CAT5 network cable too. They’re small and sharp enough to make fairly precision cuts in cramped work spaces like in a computer case, and they make very clean snips instead of tearing the material they’re cutting.
The handles are insulated which makes them easier to use when working around live wires (not recommended but sometimes necessary). The insulation is a thick, foamy material that serves as a comfort grip which reduces fatigue.
This is a very nice set of snips. I keep them in my tool bag at work, and they have served me well.
5.0 out of 5 starsSuper satisfying to use a paid of sharp

Super satisfying to use a paid of sharp, brand new wire cutters. I'm a fan of Weller products in general, for reliability, and these cutters do not disappoint. Note that these are 4" in length, so they are ideal for smaller gauge wire, or for PCB work - cutting leads and whatnot. I do a lot of soldering with 22 gauge wire, so these are perfect. The oval head allows you to reach small areas, and the slightly tacky/rubbery grip ensures that they will not shift in your hands, even when you're in a tight spot. There was a SLIGHT feeling of drag at first, but after a couple dozen cuts, it went away. Highly recommended.
4.0 out of 5 starsNicely made / photo is different than product / 4" size is harder for me to control

The photo for this products seems to keep changing. At the time that I write this (February 2018) it is incorrect. The photo shows a slotted screw for the pin; my sample has a fixed pin. Most of the photos on the web of the MS54VN are a green handled version. Mine is the same as the green, but with Weller blue grips.
In any case, these are pretty good cutters with a semi-flush head. I find the spring action a tad light, and 4" is small for my hands. Even for close in work, I prefer the slightly larger 5" tools that give better control. The extra length costs just a bit more.
3.0 out of 5 starsSmall, Made in China, Crazy Expensive Pliers
Reviewed in the United States on 5 February 2018
The pliers look a little larger in the picture than they do in real life. They are 4” in length. For adult hands, they are rather small. The “cushion grip” is not like shown in the pictures. It’s not that much of a “cushion”. The handles look more like they have been dipped in some sort of plastic. These pliers are Made in China, so at the current price of over sixteen bucks, they are crazy expensive.
5.0 out of 5 starsQuality cutters that work smoothly, but different than as shown in the photo
Reviewed in the United States on 8 January 2018
Nice small diagonal cutters work great for cutting wire and trimming leads off a circuit board after soldering. These feel solid and smooth. Unlike the picture, there is not a bolt holding these together but, instead, a rivet, as shown in the photo. The rivet is flush and the circular hole, I'm guessing, is to expand the rivet. They certainly are better than the cheapest similar cutters I've gotten from Sears, but comparable to the mid-to-high end cutters.
5.0 out of 5 starsGood cutters for tight close work

This is a quality cutter. The handles have a nice grip and the blades meet perfectly with the tips equal length. The handles spring apart easily and smoothly. These cutters are stamped "ESD Safe", which means the handle grips won't generate static electricity so these can be used around sensitive electronics. These cutters are 4.25 inches from tip of the cutter to end of the handles and the handles are about 3" long. They are good sized for me but I have smaller hands.
