I just took a rather hard fall out of my hammock swing while taking a break and reading some emails. I weigh about 208 lbs and as you can see from the video I was just sitting there. I can't really tell if I'm injured or not... it was a hard fall onto my tail bone. The type of rope they use is much too slippery for the type of compression fitting they decided to go with. If you own one of these, stop using it and if you are thinking of buying, DON'T! I would like someone from their company to contact me if at all possible. I don't even know where to begin.
Wow. We just received this product tonight and used it to hang our new 15 ft hammock. My wife and son got on the hammock and the metal clamps on the rope immediately broke with less than 200lbs weight on it. I guess if you are trying to kill your family this is most definitely the product for you. Buyer beware my wife and son got hurt pretty bad thanks to this cheaply made product.
DANGEROUS!!!!!! I got lucky tonight! Every day I sit in this Hammock using this rope with my newborn daughter. We had just put her down to sleep and I was hanging with my husband when the rope broke and I came crashing down. The bar hit my head and I landed wrong on my ankle. My back and knee is injured as well. I can’t believe how unsafe this was. If my daughter had been with me this mama bear wrath would be heard from all corners of the earth! You should be ashamed of yourself for selling such crappy product.
This rope swing kit is by far the most well made, sturdiest kit found while shopping, no matter the price point. The rings are sturdy and will hold a good sized adult if needed. My husband made a PVC frame for ours, and as you can see, the rings had ample room to hold 1.5 inch pipe. He used the carabiners to attach to the rope over the tree, so when the kids aren’t here, we can detach the swing easily to store so the Florida heat and humidity won’t ruin it. The rings are permanently sealed onto the rope with plastic seals that are heat-set on. They aren’t going anywhere anytime soon. This kit was much more reasonable than getting comparable supplies together at the hardware store. Very, very satisfied!
We got two pairs of these ropes for our swing. The rope is very pretty and sturdy. Be careful when you are using the hook to resize. It did not even withstand 200 lbs. it broke like a twig. Later we understood that one box had a better high quality resizing hook, while the other one was smaller and flimsy. The flimsy one broke. We immediately returned it, and they replaced it with a new set. But the new set came with the flimsy hook. As you can see in the photo, I double-roped it for peace of mind. Hope it sticks.
Although I haven't used them yet, they are exactly what I needed to hang my grandchildren's swing. Everything that is needed to hang it is included, except the swing of course. It seems very strong and it looks very nice. The color is different than what is shown. It is a lovely butterscotch coloring and the plastic parts are dark, not red so they really don't seem to stand out. I can tell that this will work perfectly for me!
The ArtiGifts swing extension kit is a pair of nylon 3/8” braided ropes, about 6’ in length. One end has rings, and the other has a ring/loop adjuster for making a rope shorter. The ropes are really strong and apparently rated at 600lbs, which I couldn’t test, but I’d believe. The kit also comes with some carabiners for connecting at either end.
Overall, a decent product if you want to extend any hanging seat or even a hammock. For the price and quality I don’t see why I wouldn’t rate it a 5.
Easy set up, this is the second year I was using these straps for my hammock and today while I was laying in it with my daughter, one of the metal clips bent and caused the whole hammock to drop to the ground. I took these straps in for the winter so they did not sit out and freeze, I weight 225 lbs and my 5 year old daughter weighs 45lbs, so no where near the 600 lb reported limit of these straps. Im not sure if I got a defective strap, because only one side bent, the other side is still perfect.
We bought these to hang a tree swing in the backyard. Originally hung with adjustable straps but those didn't work out. These allow for a little bit of adjustment in length which easily allowed us to make the swing level. We love the natural look rope look.
Using to hold up a rope chair that I bought to a stand I purchased a while ago. This is holding up well so far. My daughter is loving having her new chair outside in the shade. I love the wavy it looks and it seems very sturdy. Came with the carbiner and hardware to hang.
