Thought I was going nuts and for the last year and a half could not figure out why my WIFi performance was about 80% what it should have been, even 15 feet away from the router! It was THIS CABLE!
If you're limited to running on a 2.4GHz WiFi network, you CANNOT rely on this cable. It shields fine against 5GHz, but will absolutely kill your connection on 2.4G. Every time I plug this cable in it knocks my WiFi back by about 75%. I'm currently doing a work-around by wrapping the cable with tinfoil, and that works but it's ugly. Not recommended unless you know you'll be exclusively on 5G networks.
I have this plugged into a MacBook Pro 16". It works great for the connection to my display. But when I plug in the 2.4GHz wireless receiver for my mouse next to it, the mouse doesn't work. Move it to a port on the other side and it works. Remove this cable and it works. I have tested this on another computer and a bunch of different cables, including their own USB-C to HDMI and it's definitely caused by this USB-C to DisplayPort cable. Unfortunately, my return window ended two days ago, otherwise this thing would be going back.
I have a gaming monitor that supports 165hz. I was excited to get this cable for my Macbook Pro 16" but found myself always switching back to the 165hz. Sometimes the screen would go blank and not register the input of my mac. I have to constantly unplug and plug the cable in to use 165hz. When I step away and the screen goes black then I have to repeat the process. The quality of the cable is nice just wish it worked.
I bought this cable to connect the display to the New Mac Mini. I tested it and thought it was OK for some issues. But when I went into sleep mode, the monitor turned off and turned on repeatedly. I was disappointed and contacted the manufacturer. They responded to me if I did not like the issue, to disconnect the cable. What kind of crazy guy would take the cable every time to sleep mode? It was not a common sense. I was sure that the quality of this product would not be better, because they told me to return the product if they did not like it. If it's for the iPad it's okay, but I do not recommend it on computers like the Mac Mini.
I'm not sure what the average lifespan on these cables is supposed to be, but I feel like it should be longer than 2 years. Mine suddenly started flickering suddenly today, and within hours the display has become unusable with this cable. Can't complain too much it lasted two years, but I would recommend another brand.
I bought this cable (6ft) because I needed a little more length than I had from the 4ft one. Within a few hours of using it, the screen has been randomly going black. When it works, the cable is great, but it is almost unusable since it disconnects a lot. The 4ft one worked perfectly, the connections are good it will just randomly disconnect for a few seconds.
Used this cable with my MacBook Pro for a few months with no problems. Noticed over time that I had to plug it in multiple times before the cable was detected and the monitor displayed anything. Tried to do that again just now and the USB-C connector ripped out of the end of the cable! I have no way of getting it back into the cable either, so I'm SOL. Never buying this cable again.
