I just installed this in an IBANEZ J custom fits perfectly but I have no idea of the quality yet or how long it will last because we all know barrel flush mouht jacks break easy and some break so quickly there not worth buying. But I do not know yet if this will last long enough to be a good product.
Pretty insane design on this one - the four lugs are incredibly close together, and the hot lug for the TS jack is ludicrously close to the ground lug. You have to bend all the lugs in order to solder properly, it'll still be very uncomfortable and tricky, and you'd better have a very thin tip handy for the iron too. The fit is extremely tight for some reason, it's impossible to insert the jack with one hand (I wish I was exaggerating). Who in the world designed this thing?
On the positive side - it works. At least so far. The other two barrel jacks that I've had had issues with the discontinuity of the hot signal when you put sideways force on the cable connector (basically, when you sit on a chair and you touch the chair with the connector - it might buzz). This one doesn't, but if the ridiculously tight fit will not loosen up a little in a while, I'd have to replace it, making it a fourth barrel jack replacement. Seems like these things are designed by monkeys or something.
The male jack fits nice and snug. However, I had to check my solder points and try with various cables because the signal was not reliable and cut in and out. After troubleshooting, concluded the issue is with the internal connections/contacts.
Made well and solid, good quality. I am actually using this in a DIY hand-engraving control box. This input jack is installed on the box where I can easily plug in a tattoo-foot-pedal switch to control power on-or-off to the hand tool. So far it has been an amazing addition to the project! Would buy again!
This jack is a piece of absolute trash. It was manufactured as cheaply as possible. The terminals are paper thin, with no exaggeration. Two of them broke off while I was simply screwing the jack into the body. Do yourself a favor. Pay the extra $2 and get the Switchcraft barrel jack. This Chinese crap isn’t worth the time, money not frustration.
I ordered six of these for my repair shop… all six were defective and would crackle and pop when any pressure was put on the input cable…. So forget moving when you’re playing your guitar. Spend the extra $ and get Switchcraft…..
Not bad for the price. Right away I noticed that the end does not unscrew so you have to put the unit in the guitar before soldering, which makes installing a bit of a hassle. The connection is also very tight which may change after it is used a little longer. The most important thing is that it does what it needs to do, and it does it well
