I am re-writing this review. This tool is no good. I wasn’t expecting much because of the name and it prove me right. I used it for the second time recently and the blade flew out, and almost took my fingers with it. It is inherently made very cheap and the locking mechanism does not hold the blade in properly. If I took the tool apart I could fix it but that’s not the point, the average person won’t take it apart, this tool is not safe.
I have contacted B&D and have yet to hear a response. I will update if they ever get back to me.
*Side note I was a technician at many dealerships, heavy truck shops, and a train company so I know what decent tools actually are.*
Can't go wrong with black and decker in my opinion. Used them for years for both DIY and professional use and it's always been up to the job. This saw was no different. Very powerful and easy to use. Only thing bad I could say about it is the blade wasn't the best but nothing to fuss about. It cuts okay but a bit to flexible for my liking. Saying that it only comes with one wood cutting blade so it's worth getting some more anyway...
Nice easy to handle sawz all, trimmed small trees smoothly, such a lightweight compared to my old electric heavy Skil model. The only thing I don't like is the method to change blades - pull up on a level. I would prefer the type with a push button release for the blade. The battery lasts quite awhile which is a good feature.
Love it. My grandsons were happy to use a power tool and chopped up a pile of dead branches in short order. I will admit they drained the battery fairly quickly, but I had another one charging (from a different B&D device). They drained that one too, but by then I had a nice box of 2 or 3 inch firewood rounds perfect for the woodburning stove. I am patting myself on the back for this purchase! I must admit that buying some carbon steel blades was also a great idea, as it only comes with one short blade.
Has lots of power but battery doesn’t last long, thirty minutes. A little heavy for me but husband loves it, except for the battery life. Will be buying more for gifts. So handy with a battery charger!
I needed an affordable reciprocating saw with an agile handling. This saw is powerful and cuts like a knife on butter. Better handle carefully as it packs quite a punch. I was surprised by how much power a cordless saw had. The added advantage was the rechargeable 20V battery and charger. I can use this on my black and decker cordless string edger too. Great value for money.
Excellent little tool. Much more powerful than I thought. The aspect of mobility beats my old AC model any day! Great investment! As I have a few other B&D tools, I can use those batteries if I ever need to. I primarily use this for trimming tree branches up to 4 inch diameter.
