I bought this for slicing meat to 1/8" for making jerky. It did do its job for sure. Instructions were clear enough. There are plenty of small pieces to manage but assembly isn't hard, just tedious. I washed and then assembled and tried a few different thicknesses to get to what I wanted. The knife was good and sharp on the first use but seemed to lose its edge a bit faster than I would have expected based on other reviews. Eventually, I stashed the little baggy of small parts after a washup and still haven't located them. I substituted some standard bolts and used washers for spacers and hex nuts to tighten. Still worked, but is better with the hardware they send, so be careful! I bought this because I was avoiding springing for an electric slicer, but I think I am ready to spring for the extra cost. Will keep this as a back up though.
When you want to slice your meat for jerky, this product will do the trick. Additionally, you can choose 1/8 or 1/4 inch thickness. The best part of purchasing this product was the customer service. Marcelle Enterprises responded to my questions and request almost immediately. I was completely satisfied with the answers and resolution I received. I would recommend this product and this seller.
This is one of the best purchases I have ever made. I don't know how long the edge will hold on the knife that was included, but I have gotten perfect slices by following the simple directions. I would suggest a thick cover over the meat to hold the chilled meat down for cutting, especially as the bottom of the chilled meat is approached. I can't comment about the durability yet, but the cutting board seems to be very well built, and was easy to assemble. I have sliced beef only so far, but plan to give chicken breasts a try. I'm confident it will work on that, too.
You can use two chopsticks instead of this, but this is definitely safer. Also, the knife that comes with the cutting board is very sharp, I use it to cut chicken wings, etc. The only complain I have is that the spacers disc is easy to loss ... and it should come with a few more as spare parts.
i read the reviews and most were positive but i had my doubts. the day it arrived i went and got a roast to try it out. put it in the freezer (the meat) for about an hour and boy was i suprised the knife is very sharp and seems of decent quality. sliced the 3.5 lb roast in about 10 minutes and clean up was a breeze.
The quality of the slicing guide and knife are excellent! I cleaned and assembled the system, then sliced 10 pounds of 1/4” jerky in less than 30 minutes. The knife is very sharp and the system worked flawlessly. When finished, I disassembled the slicing guide and ran the stainless steel parts and knife through the dishwasher (I hand washed the small parts). I highly recommend it!
This slicer is simple, well built out of quality material and allows you to get that even slice for jerky. The metal accurately cut and the slicer assembles well. The edges of the metal appear to be on the sharper side so I am careful when cleaning it. I imagine with time they will dull a bit. Other than that a solid addition to my jerky making equipment.
