This makes good cold brew. However, the jar simply fell apart the third time I washed it. No dropping or bashing about... just ran hot water in it (after letting it warm to room temperature) and the bottom just fell out. Poor.
I purchased this product less than one year ago. The plastic lid cracked spontaneously without any specific inciting trauma. I contacted this company about this manufacturing defect and they informed me to "buy another lid"--terrible support on this overpriced $27 mason jar. Most companies will just send a replacement lid no questions asked. Buyer beware--better to spend your money elsewhere...
I started liking cold brew ever since I used this. There’s sludge of the bottom of it after 48 hours brewing so I usually filter my coffee again with paper filters. I popped everything in the dishwasher as the ads says everything is dishwasher safe. After a month, the mesh filter starts having rusty spots. I had to throw it out..
The cold brew that I made by following the recipe in the included pamphlet was not concentrated. I expected it to be like the Toddy maker, which produces a concentrate to which you add either cold or boiling water. I should have known that there isn't enough room in the jar to put enough ground coffee to make a concentrate. Additionally, the lid for the jar has a hinged cap. It takes quite a bit of effort to push the cap down, to cover the pouring spout. Worse yet, pushing the cap up requires even more effort. One member of our household cannot do it. Disappointing product.
Loved my cold brew maker for the first month. Used it daily, and didn't have any issues until about 30 days of use. The metal filter that holds the coffee from the water has started to come apart. It now leaks a noticeable amount of coffee grounds into the cold brew. Either learn to love coffee grounds or have another filter on stand by to filter the cold brew after removing your medal filter.
Would have recommended this product until now; Find a better quality filter, get used to coffee grounds or be prepared to filter your coffee after it is brewed.
Yes, besides the Ball glass container, everything else is 2nd rate. The filter is attached to the gasket ring with glue. The product came apart in the box; one of the worst quality setups I've seen to date. Quickly returned it.
Received the product and noticed that the mesh screen was partially detached from its rim. I can push it back together, but it separates as I drop the strainer into the jar. Have used it 3x but the weight of the grounds will soon break the mesh screen completely from its rim. Would really like a new mesh strainer from the vendor.
If I could give it zero stars, I would. I grind my own coffee and my coarsely ground coffe literally just seeped through the strainer.. I am so disappointed because I actually wanted the idea to work. All in all, I just got a big, overpriced mason jar out of this purchase.
Loved my first one of these, so bought another to rotate with other to always have Cold Brew available. Filter arrived with top ring separated from mesh screen. Upon inspection, looks like they are making it differently than original version of filter, with rubber gasket no longer wrapping around metal ring instead of separate piece. Based on number of complaints about this issue, seems like Country Line needs to redesign manufacturing specs. Disappointing fail on their part.
