To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
UPDATE 2: I returned the second pile of garbage that they sent me 3 weeks ago. Still no refund. Seriously, avoid this product and this seller.
UPDATE: I exchanged the unit rather than just returning it, because I figured I'd give them a chance to ship me one of the ones that worked. No dice. Exact same problems as the first one. Paddle controllers lag almost half a second. Joystick controllers don't go left and right in the games, just in the menu.
The interface firmware in this system is just flawed. Stay away from it. Don't buy it.
I'm returning for a refund this time.
Pros: Has all of the Atari 2600 games that I miss (including a lot of Activision ones).
Paddles are terrible. They lag badly, which is weird, because they are wired. Makes games like Breakout impossible to play.
Joysticks don't work in the games, but work fine in the menus. Neither one will go left or right, only up and down in all the games. They work fine in all the menuing.
This was very disappointing. I should had listened to the other reviews and not get this but I did. The controller only worked properly on certain games and the paddles didn't work all the time. I bought this as a gift and we set it up last Sunday and I'm sending it back today (Monday). I will listen to the people in the future when I see the rating and reviews.
No. No. No.... Do not buy this product and I’ll tell you why. This console of games, perfect. The setup and hdmi, awesome. The controllers.... heck no! I tried to play various games with the joystick and with the paddles, no game was successful at all because THERE IS LAG IN THE CONTROLLERS - ALL OF THEM! For example, Kaboom, I turn left on the controller, a split second later your buckets turn left. If you go right, it does the same thing. This is not enjoyable if you are trying to play the games where timing and skill is required. On Pitfall, you press a button to jump only to get eaten by alligators because of the lag. Sorry product. Cheaply made. The controllers (joystick and paddle) cheap feel and cheap made.
I bought this with high hopes and the memories of playing this as a kid and was super disappointed. Even with an exchange, it was still an issue. Horrible product! If I could give negative stars I would.
My husband and I were so happy to get this, truthfully we ordered this for our daughter as a soft intro to video games. However, after spending some time figuring everything out, games were like blobs on screen... was it that bad when we were growing up?? Either way doubt our patient daughter or us would give it another chance. Btw we even got gold version to get paddles, but NO tennis. It was quite the disappointment. We are returning and letting go of childhood memories that might have been shared with our own children.
These units seem to be entirely hit or miss. I had purchased one from a local retailer that had to be returned due to faulty programming. The one I recently purchased from Amazon arrived in box with a suspect seal on the package. Sure enough, I had be sent another customer's returned unit. The cables were unwrapped with the twist ties loose in the box. I tried the unit and discovered that the wireless controllers lagged enough to interfere with game play. The paddle controllers also performed poorly. It's important to note that all instructions were followed to the letter and the paddle controllers were not plugged in during use of the wireless joysticks. The most concerning problem appeared when the unit was first connected to my television. Thin green lines appeared horizontally across the lower portion of my screen. After powering the unit down and switching to another input to watch a film, the green lines remained on the screen. Fortunately, powering the TV down and restarting seems to have cleared up the issue, but there's no way I'm reconnecting that Atari unit again. Overall, the build quality is incredibly poor. It's no wonder so many customers are having problems with these. Buyer beware!
