Was excited to play all of my favorite games, but was completely disappointed. First, it's easy to setup, it's compact, the wireless controllers are very convenient and it has a good selection of games. The biggest problem is that there is a lag when pushing the buttons on the controller and what happens on the screen with both controller types. Pitfall was unplayable as well as breakout and Kaboom. It was a great thought, but I returned it.
I bought this for several of the old games I loved. Pitfall for one. Well there are several games that use the joystick that the left/right don't work, Pitfall for one. I know the joysticks work, the left/right work for selecting the games. These are wireless joysticks. There are only a few games where this function works. If you buy this, check out the activision games to check the left/right joystick function. The HDMI makes all the games look good. Don't get me wrong, I love all the old games. Wish I knew why those games don't work properly.
I really wanted to give this product a better review but I just can’t. The main reason I bought this was for the game I grew up loving, Circus Atari. This is the first one of these I’ve seen with the paddle controllers. Hey are pretty much unusable. There is too much lag from when I first turn the controller and the action appearing in the screen. It’s sad that something created some 30 years ago performs better than something created today.
OK, so I am an 80s kid. I grew up with the real Atari 2600. And this came as a rather big disappointment to me. I thought it would have been a bit bigger, like the real deal. The controllers look and feel the same, I'll give it that. And the game selection is, while at 120 games, its games that I never even heard of. I sincerely wish it had Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man and Donkey Kong. Oh, and Mousetrap! But, if you're into nostalgia, its an OK system.
I bought this cause my son is super into classic games and Atari was the first console i had. There are a ton of games. No PacMan but that’s ok. i set it up and it immediately started glitching. I can get through the main menu but when I try to play any game, the screen starts blinking. Every five seconds and you can’t play anything. I don’t know who is more disappointed me or my son. It would be worth it if it worked.
This did have many of my old favorite games, however there are problems. The paddle controllers respond too slowly. The original atari had much faster reacting controllers. There is a significant lag between when you turn the controller and when the movement gets made on the screen. Horrible!!!!
The concept is great and the game library is impressive. The main problem is the joysticks. There is too much play in the sticks. That combine with being wireless causes unacceptable lag time while playing. Too bad they could not at least match an item made in the 70’s.
Love the game but first one had one of controllers that would not go back and forth. Easily got Amazon to send new one and return defective one. Replacement neither controller worked, now Amazon says they don't replace 2nd time. Getting money back but most have high level of
defective controllers. Not willing to just send good controller and not so nice when you have 2nd problem, would think they would be more concerned when multiple problems with their vendor
