I'll be getting more of these. Winter has started to set in where I am and I wanted some newer winter wear. I have a big melon and my old beanie is not stretchy enough nor big enough to cover my ears in extreme cold weather. THIS thing fits like a mama kangaroo's pouch. Nice and comfy Not to mention it has a micro fleece lining (unlike my old beanie) and a double band around the rim for extra warmth on the ears. I just got this yesterday and went out for a walk in low 40's (I'm not a cold weather fan) and this thing kept me toasty. For only $12??!! I'll be getting more colors for sure
I work in below freezing to zero and subzero temperatures working with planes for a freight company (e.g., UPS, FedEx, etc.) There's nothing to protect you from the stinging wind/snow/ice. This hat is legendary!!!
I spent a lot of time online reading reviews and trying to decide what to get. I work 2 jobs and I don't have time or money to buy something that's inferior and then have to take it back and debate over return policies, etc. Luckily, Home Prefer (a company I'd never heard of before now) is part of the Amazon Free Returns program so I don't have to freak out if it doesn't work for me. When it arrived, I first wore it on some errands around town in freezing weather (~ 25 degrees + windchill). It was fantastic. I had to roll the edges up to expose my ears to cool down for a few minutes after entering and exiting a few stores at a brisk pace. And that's a good thing!
At work, on the tarmac tonight, weather.com said it "feels like 1 degree," and it did. The sleet, then snow, was firing down into my eyes, but this hat kept my head proper warm. I do also wear a balaclava/ski mask when at work, but I'm also outside for several hours at a time. I'm truly impressed. I have an Under Armor of similar design, (now discontinued) that I was looking to get a second issue of, but luckily I couldn't find a replacement because the Home Prefer is much thicker and also longer. If you're really outside in frigid temperatures, you should be wearing a balaclava anyway, but I prefer to have a cap to mitigate the precipitation.
When most people are inside watching TV and winding down from their day job, I leave home and go work another 5 hours in the freezing cold and this hat keeps me warm. I can't say enough nice things about it. Oh, and it looks pretty bad ass too! ;) Well done!
In summary, I wasn't looking for a fashionable hat to wear around town, or a hat for walking the the dog around the neighborhood. I was seeking something that would protect me from blistering Midwestern winds in negative windchill temperatures each night for 5 hours at a go. Oops...I got all three!
Also, if my review sound too rosy for you, I DID NOT recieve a discount for my review. But I did want to take the time to save YOU time and money about a product I feel very comfortable recommending. ;)
it's very good for the price of $13 that i paid. It's quite warm (it has a soft fleece liner that covers the ears) and comfy and in my opinion it looks really good. before this I had another one that looked like this and was reversible so you could wear it inside out which had a different pattern and color. I really loved it but it was not as warm as this one. This hat does not reverse but it does look good to me.
I rated it as being somewhat larger than expected, because it's surprisingly deep. I dont know who has a head that long (Maybe we can look at it like this: it can accommodate a small man bun). but its not a problem really. It also seems to be made out of high quality material and my other $55 hat really doesnt look any better made. for the price I'm quite happy. It is the dark gray one which goes well with most of my parkas and trench coats. recommended.
I bought 3 of these hats. 1 in dark gray & 2 blacks. 1 for me, 1 for a daughter & 1 for a lady. I wear a size 7 1/2 hat & my head measures 23.5" circumference. Fits me well & stays over my ears when needed even doubled over. First cold day I wore it for an 1 1/4 hour walk in 24 deg F windy nighttime weather & was warm & secure. The wool & acrylic is warm over the ears & the dome inner polyester fleece keeps head from itching & provides extra warmth. Should be good down to 15 F without a balaclava under it for prolonged exposure. Note I'm 71 & my cold tolerance has diminished. The hats readily stretch & fit a wide range of hat sizes, approximately 6 3/4 to 7 5/8+ with the black color running larger than the gray. There was a slight variation in the fit of the 2 blacks. Home Prefer's price was $6.50 less then another Amazon vendor's listing price for this identical hat. I purchased & wore that hat before I found this bargain listing & ordered 2 more for my family. I might get a navy for grandson.
I was looking for a good winter hat with a brim that was both warm and comfy, but not too warm. I also have quite a big head, so I needed something that would fit without leaving my ears exposed. Well this hat fits the bill, and is stylish to boot! The inner liner is fleece, which makes it very warm and comfy. But it still breathes, so your head doesn't get sweaty. Also, the band over the ears not only keeps the ears warm, it also helps to hold my earbuds in when I walk. You can also unroll the ear band a little to help cover the ears better. For 13 bucks, you can't beat this hat!
I marked this as somewhat small and yet gave it 5 stars. It does stretch a lot and ultimately fits me. I'm a large person with possibly an abnormally large head. So it would be unfair to take points away for my own drawbacks.
It is warm and comfortable.
Exactly what I wanted and got.
Buying electronics and other non-clothing type items online is fairly easy and straightforward. Clothing can be iffy.
This is a decent hat to have around. I keep it in my car along with some gloves for times when I'm caught off guard in the winter.
My boyfriend was looking for a replacement for his worn-out Dakine knit cap. He works outside during the winter (sometimes at night!) and needs something very warm for Colorado. He bought the current design Dakine offers, but when it came, it was comically too small for his big-brain noggin. I went online and found this hat and decided for the price, it was worth a shot. On the day it was recieved, the hat was sitting on the back of the couch when he came home and all I heard from the kitchen was "where did you find this amazing hat!!!" Fits his big head perfectly and keeps him warm in sub-zero temps.
