I will write this review honestly as a knife collector, utility maintenance supervisor and a handyman at home. I have read some pretty pissy reviews on here about this product so I wanted to give my review on this multi tool. I own a Leatherman Wave, Wave+, Surge, 2 Skeletools, a micra and a squirt. This model is very similar to my Leatherman Wave+. This Leatherman comes with a pocket clip, lanyard ring, nylon belt sheath and a 3/4 full bit kit. This is more than I have received with any Leatherman tool that I've bought. I believe that with these accessories with the addition of an S30-v blade it makes for a pretty nice pocket tool. I don't think that the S30-v is why it is priced higher since S30-v has become a very common blade steel. I believe it is because the handles are different and it is like an upgrade to the original Charge. I have had no issues with this tool, it opens and locks up very nicely, this is one of the things I like about Leatherman tools is that they are very adjustable. Their warranty is great too. The knives from Leatherman; like many other companies, are sharpened by robotics on the production line. I like the toothy edge it comes with but they are not always razor sharp. I usually touch them up on a medium DMT before I put them in my pocket. Every tool on this Charge opens and positively locks properly with little effort. I enjoy the texturizing they put on the handles, it is almost like 400 grit sandpaper and aids in gripping the handles when using the pliers.
The pocket clip is handy to use, I haven't had any issues with them so far. The clip on my Wave kind of wiggles around but I've had it since 2009 and it has been used often so a little play is to be expected. As far as the handles where the tumbled finish is, it scratches easily but I don't mind that at all. It adds character.
All in all I would say that this knife or any other Leatherman tool pretty much pays for itself whether in foot travel to go get tools or on a job site where you don't have a tool handy. It sometimes saves trips and headaches.
Bought to replace my beloved Leatherman bought 20 years ago and lost few months back...
There are cheaper versions, but this comes with a very very fine blade, and the set of changeable bits (that fits in the case with the tool). I use it very frequently and avoids me having to get to the actual tool box for “daily” stuff.
I strongly recommend a Leatherman multitool and if you can afford this one, go for it!
The leatherman Charge TTI really has the feel of sturdiness and premium feeling to this multi-tool that no other company can replicate. All the components are super sturdy with no side to side wiggles of the tools. Best of all it sports an S30V blade which has a superior edge retention on a multi-tool blade that nobody else has done on their multi-tool.
It does come with a pouch that is suitable for a molle system and it comes with spare bits which can be paired wonderfully with the new ratchet extension to be carried as the perfect edc. There is nothing else to say.
Charge TTi Plus, the tool itself is simply awesome, I do not have any issues with it, but didn't feel good about the buying experience . the product packet I received was not sealed . the tool had some scuff/scratch marks, its not used but it isn't totally new either (kind of used for demo or something)
So the rating is for the buying experience and not for the product
A wave that weighs less and is harder to break with a knife blade that keeps an edge longer — the ideal multi tool.
It just needs the bit driver extender to gain the ability to drive with standard 1/4 inch hex bits and Leatherman bits alike. The included Leatherman bits are exactly what you need for cutlery and hunting weapons. If you want to buy just one tool to carry in the field, make it this one.
All too happy and proud of owning this amazing quality Multitool. Fulfills all the requirements for the tasks I need it for. Blades and scissors come super sharp, but are also easy enough to sharpen after some wear.
