A very useful product, especially for early pregnancy and the first appearance of the bump. This belly band seems to uniquely have a silicone strip to grip to your trousers. Now that I am 21 weeks I don't find it comfortable enough for everyday wear, because having unzipped trousers plus a belly band leads to a lot of bulk around the hips, which makes my bump feel weird. However, this band saved me when I had to go to a formal work meeting as I could still wear my nice trousers, just with the band covering the unzipped top! Otherwise I would have had to try to get some formal pregnancy trousers, which seems like a waste for occasional use.
Prefer just wearing maternity jeans even from early on. Didn't feel like I could trust this to keep my trousers up and didn't find it overly comfy. Come in handy now to keep up my work maternity pants which are enormous when I'm not yet!
The quality of the product seemed good. I can't say whether it would stay up or roll if it fit properly. I used the size chart with my pre-pregnancy measurements and BOY WAS I WRONG. Size up one or two sizes. I usually don't like my clothes super tight, but this was so uncomfortable, I had to take it off within 10 minutes. I bought the size 1. My pre-pregnancy hips were 35" and waist 34". My current measurements are closer to hips 38" and waist 40". I normally wear a small or 8 and have smallish hips to waist ratio. I should have sized up to 2 or even 3. Good luck with your sizing!
Bought this in the first trimester as my jean sizes constantly changed and it allowed me to wear my normal pants unzipped/unbuttoned without having to buy new ones in every size as I grew. I also bought "spring button pant extenders" to help my pants stay up. I found they worked well with this band to make a more secure and comfortable fit though I have also used the band comfortably without them. In the second trimester when I was having lots of round ligament pain I would wear the band by itself just to have some light belly support. Late in the second trimester I finally got maternity jeans but still use this band occasionally if I want to wear my regular pants for a short period of time.
I almost bought a model that didn't have the silicone strip and I don't think the band would stay in place without the silicone strip, it's surprisingly effective.
I was already familiar with the bella band from my previous job at a maternity store, so this was the first maternity item I ordered after I got pregnant. It's fantastic. I started wearing it around 12 weeks when I could still button up my pants, but they were feeling a bit snug. It's not really *necessary* when you're only leaving your top button undone, but I liked that it kind of smoothed everything out so that my button area wasn't popping out under my shirts. I'm now 28 weeks and still using the bella band to wear my pre-pregnancy pants. At this point, I can't zip up my pants at all, but since they still fit my hips and butt fine, I can continue to wear them with the bella band. I even wear it with my one pair of maternity jeans, because it holds them in place.
Preparing for babies is expensive, and it's hard to justify buying a whole new wardrobe when you're only going to be wearing those clothes for a few months.
So I’m a size 14 pre pregnancy and I got a size 3. I’m pleased with the size, it fits great. I’m 21 weeks pregnant and have been using this for a few weeks. I fully expect it to continue to fit for a while yet, as there is a lot of stretch to the fabric. It’s a great way to extend the life of your regular pants. The rubber on the bottom really does stay in place, and covers your open pants well. It is somewhat less comfortable then regular maternity pants, as you have the zipper from your pants against your skin, but the band itself is so smooth and comfortable, there are no seams in it. It also requires a bit of careful inspection between bathroom breaks to make sure everything is covered, but wearing a long shirt or tank top certainly helps making you feel more secure. Overall I’m very pleased with my purchase, as just wearing the few maternity pants I have gets very repetitive. This gives me the option of wearing any of my regular pants.
I hm'd and haw'd a lot of this product before actually buying it. I'm a size 7-8 pants pre-pregnancy and had a hard time deciding between the 1 and 2 sizes of this band. I went with the 2 and it's perfect. I think the smaller size would have been too tight(which we all know is super uncomfortable at this time in our lives!) It's allowing me to wear a lot of my pants and skirts even though they're basically wide open! the rubber bottom is great for keeping the band in place. The only thing, which isn't the bands fault, is that my super tight skinny jeans tend to sag throughout the day without being buckled in via button and zipper. That's the way skinny jeans are and not a fault of the band, i just have to pull my skinny jeans up throughout the day when using this band (especially when moving from seated to standing positions) all boyfriend cut and slightly looser pants work great with this product.
I hate buying maternity pants. This thing has saved my life - I'm 22 weeks pregnant and huge, and this is still working just fine with my pre-baby pants. I'm really hoping to sail along with this and leggings until I have my baby! It's saved me so much wasted money on overpriced maternity pants, and I get a little extra support at the same time. It rolls up sometimes when I'm sitting but that is to be expected. I should have probably gotten a smaller size - my bad. Love it!
