Let me start off by saying I almost NEVER review things, but I felt this needed one. I have the most chill cat on the planet. He is nearly 12 years old, and has been very well behaved up until a few years ago. He never clawed until a few years after we got the first brand new living room furniture we've ever had-ever. So imagine my surprise when I started seeing small snags and puncture marks in my new leather sofa. So, I covered the accessible corner with a blanket thinking that would stop the little show of power. NOPE. He just moved to other furniture and the back of my loveseat. Now, I like my cat, but was seriously considering for the first time ever sending his destructive furry butt to get declawed. I have never once considered doing this to an animal, but it was either that or he would become outside only cat when up until now he's been indoor only his whole life. We live on a busy corner and there are massive racoons and coyotes around so we didn't really want to kick his geriatric butt outdoors. Then my cousin posted on Facebook about the caps. I wondered why I was just now hearing about them so I ordered them. Read the reviews and decided to err on the side of caution and get the XS size since everyone said they ran big, and Bailey the cat only weighs 7#. So, they arrived last night, and I picked out some black ones since I didn't think he's be too appreciative of pink sparkly ones, plus I wanted to be sure I could easily see if they fell off or something. Please let me repeat- he is the most chill cat on the planet- I have been trimming his claws for years and he doesn't care one bit. So I trimmed his claws, tried a cap or two on without glue to make sure the XS would fit. They do fit, but whoever said they run big either doesn't know how big their cat is, or received the wrong size. I should have gotten the S but they are totally fine. I only did Bailey's front paws, and it took maybe 5 minutes- by myself. Did I mention my cat is chill? He cried a little, but a quick adjustment to his sitting position cleared that up. He looked at me like he was going to kill me in my sleep when I was done, but only gave each paw a sniff ad a quick shake and laid back down for another 20 hour nap. So, in summary- get the size it says to, and save your furniture for less than the price and kitty anguish of a declawing.
Love this, only 2 had came off in two weeks. My cat only took a day to get use to it. Now she doesn't even notice it. My new furniture is protected, thank goodness. Gotten ton of compliments, been sharing with all cat lovers.
My kitty is 3 years old and 10.4 lbs. he scratched my leather sofa and messed up every corner. I bought medium size. I filled glue to 1/3 of nail. It stays on my baby’s nails for 2 weeks already. My kitty used to it in 5 minutes. The nails are soft and pretty. I love it. Make sure use gloves when apply the glue to the nails. There are some glue got on my fingers, I have to separate my two fingers. Lol.
These keep my furniture safe! My cat loves to scratch on furniture and these things have saved my new leather kitchen chairs. My cat does occasionally chew on them and pull them off, but i just put another one on when she does. They stay on well aside from her ripping 1 or 2 off every couple of weeks. They are easy to put on. My cat weighs about 8lbs and the extra small fit best. The ones in the photo have been on for a while and are growing out but still staying on and protecting my furniture!
Prep work - if your cats are as un-trusting of you as mine are of me, you'll need to wrap their entire body in a towel or blanket. Literally with just their head and front claws poking out.
Implementation - Dump out whichever claws you want to use and have them ready. It's easier if you have an assistant here but not impossible without one. Either you or your assistant will fill the claw about 1/3 -1/2 of the way with the glue. Press lightly into kitty's paw so the nail comes out and then just slide the nail cover right on. For my cats, it was easier today without their nails clipped, because the end of the nail will slide all the way in the cover and adhere to the glue. Hold on to kitty tight or they will run away. After this process I lost all trust for about a day. It's fine, they are dramatic and will forgive you.
Aftermath - Once claws are on, my cats walked funny for about an hour. They got used to them and stopped the robot walk, and now after 2 weeks don't notice them at all. Occasionally mine will bite at the nails in order to try and pry them off - but to no avail! That glue is some strong stuff. Out of the two cats, have only had one nail fall off in these 2 weeks.
Thank you for saving my furniture! I no longer have to worry about my new leather barstools. Will continue to buy again and again, these are now a MUST for my household.
These seem like ok quality but my cat absolutely hated them. It turned out she would rather hurt herself by biting off her own nails to get these off than wear them. If you know your cat will tolerate this kind of thing, these might be an ok option for you. They came with plenty of glue, which worked well, and were fairly easy to cut down to the correct size. They just did not turn out to be a safe option for my cat.
These are great! I inherited a 15 year old cat who seems to prefer scratching random parts of my carpet vs the many cat scratch pads I have bought her. She’s on the larger size, and despite some squirming and growling she let me put them on. They fit great and are easy and fast to apply. She did tear off several caps within a few days, but I sort of blame my inexperience applying them. I put on a second batch 2 weeks later and so far so good.
These are fantastic claw covers! Due to other reviews saying they were too big, I went with the size small and they were a perfect fit. Cat is 11 pounds with long nails. DO NOT CLIP NAILS BEFORE PUTTING THEM ON. (The instructions say to, but if you do, you won’t have enough nail to keep them glued on) We put them on last night. They were super easy to place on the nails and my cat didn’t seem too bothered by them. She did chew on them for the first half hour, but then she got over it. No damage was done to them and they didn’t come off. The glue worked super fast, so as soon as you get the glue in the tip, place and hold right away. I only held them in place for about 5 seconds each. Total process was about 5-7 minutes. She was VERY GOOD and allowed me to do it. My other cat wasn’t having it- fortunately he doesn’t scratch the furniture. My new couch is now safe and I couldn’t be happier. I will definitely be repurchasing in the future. I’m not sure how long they stay on, but I’ll update my review when one comes off. 7/10/2020: They last for about 6 weeks and if you left them on, they would stay on until the claw sheds. (In our experience when we left them for more like 8 weeks once) Pretty impressive! You do need to change them every 6 weeks or so though. A little difficult to remove without bothering kitty, but she deals fairly well. The other cat is an absolute BEAR about it.
Got these for my boyfriend’s cat. Attempted to apply them while she was sleeping, but she immediately caught on and wanted none of it. Managed to get 2 on one paw, and 4 on the other. She immediately ripped one off with her big tiny razor teeth, leaving one bright green one on her middle finger. Now it just looks like she’s constantly flipping me off. I’m starting to think she did it on purpose, but I’m not saying I don’t deserve it. Anyways, she spent the next 2 hours with the other paw in her mouth, trying desperately to undo her new manicure. We even tried to give her some Benadryl to try and get her to chill out so we could finish the job, but she hated the taste and outsmarted us once again. Needless to say, the ones that we managed to get on her have stayed on, which is nice because 5 tiny claws in your leg at 7AM are better than 10. I advise pre-medicating and not underestimating your boyfriend’s cat’s ability to outsmart you any day of the week. Maybe next time.
First things first, this seller responded in a very timely manner and my product arrived pretty darn fast. Packaging was such that it protected the product, while in route, very well. The product was very easy to use. The hardest part was getting my cats to sit still for it. But they were adorable afterwards and I was so glad to be free of their claws snagging at my skin. Thank you so much! I'll be back for more!
